All 3 winning pays about 200-1

Pounding winning with the other 2 running a place is showing a dividend of about 25-1 - good value

I like Coolangatta in the Slipper but there are any number of chances including the 3 placegetters in the Diamond (Daumier, Revolutionary Miss & Jacquinet)

I'm Thunderstruck (each-way) in the All-Star Mile but it will have to get past Zaaki.  Been set for the race a long way out

Happy punting folks!

Lombardo I think is a very very good show, but 1000 is my only concern, 1200 and it’s a Monty. Sword of mercy/Lombardo quinella is a worthy exploration

Yeah, the 1000m at Flemington is all about the timing of the run (because the run will almost certainly appear) ... reckon Lombardo wins. Mick Price places his horses well

Just doing straight out win bets tomorrow although a trifecta in the Slipper & All Star Mile ... big pools and the dividends can pay a lot with the right combo

If Coolangatta wins the Slipper, the filly could end up with a stellar career as a result

Lombardo a bit rusty ... needed the run

Yeah, didn’t even really pick up speed late.

Pounding, I think it maybe was run a little hot and a slower speed would have suited.

BOOM! Montefilia!!!

Took Mont,  had a bonus on Angel of truth and had those two and VE in the tri.

Was still a shock to see Verry Elleegant not pick up and run down Montefilia ... not that I had anything riding on it apart from a small outlay trifecta

And Anamoe far too accomplished in the Guineas ... ridden forward in a small field and ridden like the best horse in the race

I'm Thunderstruck beaten by the barrier draw ... all credit to the winner though.  Scooted away and too good was Zaaki.  All class

Streets runs 3rd!  What a grand campaigner ... $720k for the connections! Bonus dollars!

Only reason I could see thunder that long odds was the barrier.

Crikey….jet engine finish on Cherry. Place multi still alive with our picks. One to go

Fireburn gets the rails run and streets them in the Slipper ... only went around 1 horse in a race where that is a real advantage.

Too good but ridden an absolute treat.  Kudos to the horse & rider

I should have taken your lead from last week and taken all 3 in a place multi.  The value was there with our 3 this week

Well done, DZ!

Yeah got around $8.50 for all three to place and threw it on last minute. Fair value I thought today Macca and all of our picks weren’t far away from winning either.

Yep, that dividend is a good one, all things considered. If 1 or 2 of the picks are of good each-way value, the place multi comes into play

I must say, I've had better days at the races but there's always Sha Tin tomorrow!

They just interviewed the trainer of Shelby Sixtysix (Danny Williams) on 'After the Last' on the racing channel ... what a fantastic story!

The show is repeated at 9pm tonight unless you've caught hold of it already

The horse is now going to run in the TJ Smith!

By the way, I recouped very well at Sha Tin yesterday (thanks to Moreira & Purton) ... I pulled the right reigns!

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
