And now for the Oaks!

I see Jye McNeil is off 'Willowy' ($4.80) and is now on 'Elusive Express' ($4.20)

Damien Oliver to ride Willowy whilst J-Mac is riding 'Daisies' ($5.50) All others double-figures apart from Biscayne Bay ($8) with Hugh Bowman on board

Best Bet Saturday (Flemington)

R1 No.7 Silent Sovereign 8.50/2.25

For the 'Place' in a multi best, but can win!

Best Bet Flemington

Race 8 No.9 Colette Win 4.80

All 3 winning will return a healthy dividend of $150 (without a boost)

But I'll be playing around with a couple/few at the place (in multi's)

Good luck punters!

Silent pipped by a half head at the post. Our playboy came from nowhere.

Bumping with the 3rd placegetter didn't help

Just audio here but I thought it was home!

Yeah def didn’t help either. And 20out I thought it would hold on too.

Well everything has gone to plop for me today, heaps of seconds and thirds but no winners coming onto the last. Hope you boys fared better.

I did ok ... got a 2/3 place parlay up at Rosehill

All got into the finish so 4 collects ... got an early winner at double winnings

Nature Strip & Zaaki won as expected

And Zoushack got up for you Gorg ... good pick!

Geee Blesk came hard at the end tho @Macca, I must admit the thought I had was bet I get bloody pipped at the post again 🤣

I got a trifecta early but wasn’t a huge collect, down on the day, still up from Derby day so still playing with their money so I won’t complain too much… not too much 😂

Traditionally we take a break from giving out best bets after Stakes day.

I'll still be here from time to time having a few bets ... more so making the odd reference to the feature events that pop up

For instance the Ballarat Cup & Cranbourne Cup next weekend and the Ascot G1's from Perth etc over summer

As for the Spring, I started really well and finished really well ... inbetween not so good.  But I'm in front and that's what matters!

Gorg, DZ and others ... thanks for the contributions!

So a few days after Jamie Kah wins her day in the Supreme Court, Racing Victoria decides to make Jamie ineligible to win the Jockey Premiership

Never mind that Jamie has served a 3 month disqualification and never once complained  It's a poor move by RV in my opinion.  Petulent & spiteful with no need

Jamie would get much better treatment in NSW ... the champion jockey could take her talents to the Northern beaches and who could blame her?

It's any wonder that NSW & Sydney racing is fast becoming the No.1 destination in Australia

Yeah that was strange and tbh petty. It wasn’t like she cheated at the races or something similar.

3 months off which included a huge loss of earnings amounting to hundreds of 1000's was punishment enough

And I can't back a winner today Gorg ... no good!

Same, couldn’t pick any winners, [censored] day.

Jamie Kah is back in style!

Wins the Pakenham Cup on Smokin' Romans A superb ride.  All class

I was on Mimi's Award however I picked up a nice 2/3 win parlay earlier in the day

I had Canasta, Smokin Romans and Under my Spell in my black book, took a punt on all and that’s all I was going to do, of course under my spell salutes and away I went 😃

Werribee cup today and Kah should be in the mix with Starcaster.

How bloody close was the finish in the Werribee cup!

I thought that Starcaster got pipped at the line watching live.

Yes,  just a bob of the head in it

Dark Dream was a good thing beaten as it was held up for a run twice ... might be worth following up on in the open handicaps (as well as the winner)

Dakar rally is often worth a look at ... in Saudi Arabia this year.

1 hour highlights program on every day on SBS at 5pm.  They are just on half way through the rally and there has been the usual high drama on a daily basis

Sand dune after sand dune for hundreds of kilometres, I don't know how they can endure it all!

The Autumn carnival is almost upon us ... at Caulfield this Wednesday we get to see the 2 Blue Diamond Preview's as well as a couple of listed races.  All the races carry Saturday-like prizemoney

Also on Wednesday the Australia Day Cup will be held at Warwick Farm

First Group 1 of the Autumn Carnival coming up on Saturday.  Looks a good race too

WFA over the 1400m so the barriers could be all-important for the fancied runners

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
