Did anyone see what happened in the silver eagle, all I saw was horses scatter everywhere and suddenly Vangelic was no where to be seen when it was in a decent position.

All I saw was a few horses going sideways and as a result, Triple Ace sustained an injury

Watched all the replays and here are a few takeaways ...

Zaaki struggled when the pressure was applied and is no longer a sure thing for the Cox Plate (as in winning)

Anamoe ultra impressive and may now run in the Cox Plate

Savatoxl & Aim are both underrated,  Paulele very impressive,  Profondo is the real deal and Probabeel is a champ

Lombardo looks a group horse in the making, I'm Thunderstruck is all class and Delphi might be able to take it up to Incentivise in the Caulfield Cup

A great day's racing and Ch7's coverage of the racing out of Melb & Syd is first class.  Bruce is in his element!!

Just had a look at the stewards report on RacingNSW.
The leader ( Triple Ace) suffered an injury rounding the turn and Vangelic being directly behind it was severely checked. That caused interference to a couple of others as Vangelic shifted out. Jockey of Vangelic said that was pretty much it for the horse and didn’t ride it out.
On the Racing NSW website they show a stewards view of the race which is slightly different to the one we saw on the TV. Can’t post a link to it for some reason, worth checking out.

Good viewing today, fared much better than last week. Tad unlucky with the team multi, took all three to win and the one you suggested Macca, place/place/win.
Was on Ellsberg, thought I had it until Aim flew home but Ellsberg fought it right out. Darren Flindell had Aim on top too. Great pick at $31.

On current prices our trio saluting is showing a dividend of $44 (with a boost)

Good luck punters!

Prebble let Zouz get into the worst spot on the field and stayed there until he had to try and got 7 wide and made up no ground. Terrible run.

And just to add a bit of spice to the Caulfield Cup, Incentivise has drawn the carpark (barrier 20)

As a noted on pace runner (or leader) that's a big ask at $2.60.  We are going to find out how good it is!

Caulfield Racecourse - Form Guide, Barrier Stats, Tips and Results

Young Werther draws 8th.
Some rain due but prob not enough to make worse than a soft 5 you would think. But you are right. How far will it drift/come in due to the barrier?

Everest race looks a good one.

I like Classique Legend in the Everest but I'm wary of Masked Crusader especially if the swoopers are advantaged

The Inferno at $26!  Nature Strip & Eduardo will take up the running you'd imagine.  Going to be some sort of race

As for the Caulfield Cup, Delphi & Nonconformist can also be on pace runners but have drawn 19 & 16 respectively

Could be game-on to the first turn! (400m straight)

Best Bet Saturday (Caulfield)

R3 No.3 Extreme Flight (Win) $4.20

Nonconformist is prob the way I’m leaning, maybe a bonus on young werther.

CL is prob the one but think Gyrtrash is a danger.

Previously with our tips we would often land 2 of the 3 winners so I started taking a 2/3 parlay just to get a collect.  Small outlay only

I usually end up breaking even that way (from an overall perspective) but if all 3 salute, it's a very good outcome.

I'm assuming we're all going to back our own selection but often I'll include my own pick in  an exacta instead of a win bet (again, to get a collect)

But that's just the way I do it ... each to their own is the preferred option

Best Bet Saturday Randwick

Race 9 No.6 Great House (W) $7.50

Caulfield Race 1. Number 5 Seiners Express $5.50 (W)

The softer ground will suit more, hopefully this is enough to beat the fav.

Going to need a new selection. It’s been scratched.
Syd is a heavy 9 already.

Caulfield soft 5, reckon that becomes soft 6 or worse.

I’m liking it Macca. I’m feeling good here!!!

Melb starts the day at a heavy 8 with more rain forecast for at least til 11.

Sydney is not a soft 7, so not looking as bad but showing it will be windy. Interesting to see how that affect the track.

I only just realised my initial BB was scratched from Randwick to run in the Cup today. Gonna have to throw a couple of bucks on it just in case now.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
