Didnt realize Galaxy Star was from WA. Dont think it did much here after some initial promise?

Galaxy Star has only raced in WA but it's easy to get the WA horses confused Wadda ... it has run a number of slick times albeit against moderate opposition without a lot of pressure.  To be fair though,  the horse hasn't run a bad race in 12 starts (12: 9-3-0)

Peaceful State & Prized Icon will both be pushing hard for victory whilst the local horse 'Man Booker' at 17-1 seems overs considering it beat Galaxy Star 2 starts back.  The other local with very good form is Material Man.   And then there is the other DK Weir runner in Iconoclasm with Craig Williams aboard.  As previously stated,  it's a good betting race.

Ah ok. Did it run in Morphetville then? maybe i am getting confused, but i did follow Galaxy Star for a while there. Not a bad record. Quinella with the Weir runner! Iconoclasm is a good horse. (he doesnt have many bad ones).

Weir & John Allen combine again to win the Ballarat Cup with Kiwia.  Having close to half the runners helps!  Won well though.

Pilote D'essai looked like it might have had it won but it still did well to hang on for 2nd and boost up the exotic dividends.  I didn't include it but those F4 punters who did include it in the right combo scooped the pool.  It did win the race 2 years ago.  Trained by the Hayes group.

Yeah good win Macca, I thought the leader had pinched the Cup also. I backed Life Less Ordinary each-way, happy with the $2.90 place tote. Ran on ok for third.

2 seconds with our bests so far.

I've had a few bets at Ascot today ... scaling back from the Spring but with a small interest in the ongoing feature races around Australia.

Looking forward to the Railway Stakes though ... the locals vs the Eastern raiders.  It's an even mix as I see it.

I listened to an interview the other day with Simon Miller, trainer of Achernar Star ($21) in the Railway Stakes, he was sounding confident the horse would run well, his only concern being the horse has drawn the river as he put it.

Good luck at Ascot Macca, I’ll tune back in for the Railway.

Niccanova was my other bet apart from our Best Multi. Luckily it gained some miracle run to finish powerfully. It was backed off the map. Came into $2 the tote.

Yeah, well done DZ ... gives us a 3: 1-2-0 record for the day which isn't too shabby.

The locals prevail in the Railway Stakes with the Eastern raiders nowhere to be seen.  Galaxy Star looks to be destined for bigger things if they bring the horse to the East.

They ran 01:34.08 for the Mile which is a very fast time for Ascot.   Did it easily did Galaxy Star - far too good.  Willie Pike again.  Gets the double after Arcadia Queen won in impressive fashion in the Guineas.

You'll have to logon to your TAB account to watch the replays of the 3 feature races from yesterday ... there's nothing available on youtube as yet.

El running around tomorrow at Sandown. Plan is to start, also nominated for Cranbourne Friday night.

Race 4 Number 3. Showing $5 fixed with Tab.

Drawn well and comes in with a claim. The horse got on the wrong leg last start down the straight.

It's certainly an open race DZ ... reckon a few might firm in the market and others will drift.

But as you said,  El Mag has drawn well and the speed map has the horse running 2nd on settling down.  It's also worth noting that the horse has been well supported in it's last 4 runs but given the strength of field,  $7 or even $8 might become available.  Maybe.

Just had a closer look at the field and you’re spot on Macca, tricky little affair this one. I’m working tomorrow, hopefully I can sneak away to watch it. I’ll decide in the morning in regards to betting strategy, fixed or best tote.

The trainer needs a win too, been a big struggle lately although I did see he had a winner over the weekend.

Managed to find a few decent betting races for the weekend.  The Winterbottom Stakes over the 1200m takes centre stage on Saturday but the focus on Sunday will turn to the inaugural running of the Jericho Cup at Warrnambool.  Anyway,  here are the 5 races that I picked out that might be of interest.

'Voodoo Lad' wins the Winterbottom in fine style ... Damien Oliver mentioned that he followed Enticing Star into the straight and then ended up going past the horse at the post in a grandstand finish.  Another master ride for his 115th Group 1 winner.  The horse was in last place at the 600m mark.

DK Weir once again and another former multiple best bet from the 'A Day at the Races' crew.  A terrific race and I reckon we'll be seeing Enticing Star in the East soon enough.  Game in defeat and beat a number of good horses home.

Another former best bet from the crew here in 'I'm a Rippa' won the George Moore Stakes up at Doomben leading virtually all the way ... ran a sizzling time as well.  A much improved sprinter/miler to look out for.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
