Yep D77 ... impressive win by Sunlight and Estijaab ran a treat as well.  The Slipper is an extra 100m and that extra bit of distance looks like it will definitely suit Sunlight.  And Santos looms large.

Show a Star couldn't get cover whilst Cellarman got a great run.  Anyway I'm still alive because of the Sunlight win and hope others are as well.

Out in my main bet, took a back up with Show a Star for a place so all is not lost!

Still alive here, took a system 3 also, no margin for error from here though.

Disappointing run from Smart Coupe.

The Punters went away from 'Silent Sedition' but it won easily.  Far too good for that lot.  The horse looks like it has found its form.

Was on it last week.

Ace High has come into 3.50 pl on the Tote.

Think Tosen can bounce back today.

They came late for it. I saw a 2k bet just before the jump at $4.00. Nice collect for that punter.

The Weir pair. Great win Brave Smash. My first winner.?

God DK Weir aye? 3 out first 4 runners. All you really needed was Showtime and you have the first 4 right there. Humidor flying.

Went close but Brave Smash just too classy ... Tosen needs the 1600m up to 2000m.  I certainly wouldn't be writing Tosen off although Brave Smash might have its measure over the mile as well.

Weir has just said that both horses are heading for the Blamey Stakes (17th March  1600m) then up to Sydney.

Oh yeah, totally agree. Was just on for the place, not his distance, but i just wanted to see a better run than last time and he ran well. Id stick with him over a mile i reckon.

Need Oohood to run a place.

Dees are going ok.

Overcame the wide barrier Written By. Great ride by the kid. Was 10 earlier in the week.

Need Russian Revolution to place to complete my 4 leg All Up.

First 2 legs in the Quad.

It wins anyway ... bolted in!  Gunned it.

4 from 4. Slipper surely.

Made a mess of them, in the end Oohood paid $3.00 the place and Written By $5.40 on the tote.

Comprehensive win!

Ace High looks awesome in the mounting yard..

Bugger.

It was well placed but the others had better acceleration.

The first 2 are very classy - Ace High not disgraced.  I had a saver trifecta which got up - every collect counts!

Yeah i thought it might finish a bit like that. It was ridden up on the pace, so no real sprint at the end. Bum.

My 4 leg all up place bet was

Mr So and So 3rd

Brave Smash 1st

Oohood 3rd

Russian Revolution 1st

27/1 :)

NB: Punters lament..

I really like Russian Revolution and should have made it my best. I just thought the field was so big. Anyways....onwards and upwards.

Riding home Gailo Chop and Single Gaze in the last leg of the Quaddie.

There's been quite a few favoured horses get up today ... Kementari,  Written By,  Silent Sedition,  Brave Smash,  Overshare,  Sunlight,  Cellarman,  Try A Lil Harder,  I Am Excited & Russian Revolution.

Well done on your all-up bet Wadda - I've broken even for the day but have still got a few live bets going.

Yeah it was quite noticeable actually, even the Dees got up!

Its a good lesson actually, just because they are super hot fields, doesnt mean you cant just go with your gut instincts anyway.

Premier Caulfield day of the Autumn.

Russian Revolution FF paid 3199......was getable if you took the winner 1 out.

Well done to Macca and Binman for their best bet selections. 2 out of 4 today. We can do better.

Well ... if you banked on our best bets returning at least a 2 from 4 result then Gailo Chop was a moral.  That was an authoritative win.

Ended up in front for the day with Gailo Chop saluting (got a half decent multi up) On top of that the Demons won with authority as well.

Anyway,  playing with house money tomorrow for the 2 big Group 1 races at Sha Tin.  The usual suspects are all running around again and both races have quality field's involved.

The Hong Kong Gold Cup 2000m  Group 1  WFA  $1.7Million (7.05pm)

The Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup 1400m  Group 1  WFA  $1.7Million (7.40pm)

Well done macca!  Thats a good day then.

'I got the quad and a decent 4 leg all up, so im well up for the day and wont be giving it back for a while!

I just missed a 5 leg multi with The Dees as the last leg, because Egyptian Symbol had a pretty ordinary run, but nevermind.

The Quad paid 400 which was pretty good if you look at the numbers 2/4/2/2 all top weights.

I saw some footage of Beat The Clock, that thing really flies, so might anchor it in something in The Queens Slipper race.

You have had a good day - you're not bad at those quaddies, Wadda!

Tomorrow's 2 big Group 1's at Sha Tin should see some great racing ... the Gold Cup is a really good betting race with Pakistan Star back up against Werther,  Time Warp,  Season's Bloom and a few others.

The other race (The Jubilee Cup) sees the 2 new guns 'Beat the Clock' & 'Fifty Fifty' up against a host of really good Group horses (Beauty Generation,  Helene Paragon,  Pingwu Spark  et al)

As per usual,  I'll restrict myself to those 2 races and try and figure out some trifecta combinations.

Well,  we weren't far off all 4 selections coming through Wadda ... Ace High wasn't far off 3rd and 'Show a Star' probably would have won if it was able to find some cover.

I included a few other horses in various 3 pick multi's (coupled with a couple of our best bets) but for whatever reason I baulked at Silent Sedition,  Kementari,  Written By & Brave Smash.  All 4 of those horses were jumping out at me but I went for the value instead.  The day ended up being a decent one but could have been very very good.

I reckon we just keep doing it the way we're doing it.  Sooner or later we'll snag all 4.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
