2015 Player Review - # 47 Max King (R)

Featured Replies

The lanky King is one of the club's long term development players. He is mobile, can take a mark and is an accurate kick for goal. Will remain a rookie in 2016.

King is a player whose career could go anywhere depending on how his development turns out which will in turn depend on how he applies himself to the task, particularly in the next 12 months. He could be a bust but he has some of the attributes that could make him a valuable ruck man/forward for the club. He can take a mark and he's an accurate kick so that's a start.

Massive 2016 coming up for King. Don't expect him to play senior footy yet, but really hope he takes the next step to demand an upgrade onto the list. He could be the missing link!

It was a no brainer that King received an extension to his rookie contract, but he will clearly need to improve further to receive a senior contract in 2017. He would be hoping that we don't draft another ruckman as he clearly needs more opportunity and responsibility at Casey this year.

Was it King's development that saw the end of Fitzy?

King developed well in 2015, and if he progresses at the same rate will be the ruck/forward that Fitzy was supposed to be.

Would love to see him get upgraded after a super 2016. Clunking marks and kicking goals at Casey, and showing his skill below the knees and in the ruck as required.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
