Beautiful little town.

Preserved like a museum as many towns in the locale are.

Well worth a trip if you are ever scouring the goldfields on a dirty weekend.

Been there, done that ... the only thing was that when we were there it was at the height of a drought and the area looked a little worse for wear. I'm sure in normal times it would look green and fantastic.

Despite all that, I was aware that it was Barassi territory and I took in the significance of that part of the great man's heritage. Sadly, most Demon fans don't understand how significant his impact was on the game and on the team that dominated the competition to such an extent that it won six flags in a decade.

On this of all days, the story brings back great memories.

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
