2015 Player Review - # 25 Tom McDonald

Featured Replies

"Many football commentators had McDonald locked in for an All-Australian berth a third of the way into the season such was his was brilliant form down back. Although he had some quieter games, he bounced back strongly towards the end of the year to cap off a fine season. McDonald also showed his versatility later in the year, when he pushed up forward and pinch-hit in the ruck. "

Very solid performance over the year as a whole.

AA form through April/May until that fateful game against The Filth on QB when Cloke rogered him by kicking 5 straight ('fair dinkum unbelievable').

Recovered slowly but finished the year on a high after showing commendable versatility.

Agree. A great start, with much improved decision making and disposal though as the team as a whole declined / fatigued mentally as defeat piled upon defeat, he too sagged for a while.

Just a thought - chicken or egg: do teams that win regularly get less mentally and physically fatigued, or do less mentally and physically fatigued teams win more? My guess is a bit of both. It must be demoralizing not expecting to win. It is a cycle that must somehow be broken, very soon.

One bloke who's head should be on the Demonland banner.

I understand the general support for Viney as a future captain of the club, but McDonald oozes leadership and would get my vote. Back to front,

McDonald...Petracca..Hogan, the start of something really promising.

A shining light in what was a fairly mediocre defense for the most part. Looks capable of becoming one of the truly elite defenders in the competition, particularly if our midfield can break even most weeks.
