The Senior List Jigsaw Puzzle

The AFLPA couldn't care less about the teenagers...

No, I just meant that Evans' vacated spot on the list may be better next year rather than this year.

If you delete every player you don't want in one year, you are going to have to delete someone you do want the year after...

That's if your list is strong! With us there will all be new faces to delist and players wanting out as well. But I agree you have to consider just what you'll have available to come in as well. No point replacing like for like list cloggers, Neeld did that in 2012 and was hammered for it.

I understand your point RPC that delisting a contracted player "may" effect moral of the playing list and even an outsiders opinion of the club. IMO however we would not be the first club to do this and we won't be the last. The club spin doctors should be able to run this into a position where we come off well.

" great servant of the club ... , MFC is being ruthless and professional ... a new dawn ....sometimes tough decisions have to me made and this is one of them ..... yada yada "

The simple fact is that unless a miracle happens McKenzie and Evans will not be on our list next year. They both have desire but lack the fundamental skills to succeed at the highest level. This will not change over the course of a pre season. They will spend the year at Casey before being axed next year and I consider this to be dead time, that could be better spent on developing a younger / project player or having a punt on a Pre season Draft - rookie selection .

If your not going forward , you are going backwards and these 2 players are not going to take us forward.

just my opinion

"Well Jordie yada yada"

Yes but it is more than merely Mckenzie and Evans and the injured Trengove. Who knows how Barry and King are going to perform next year and what a risk it is [or isn't] keepimg them for an additional year?

2015
Trengove, Jamar (UFA), Garland (RFA), McKenzie, Howe, N Jones (RFA), Evans, Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Viney, Toumpas, Pedersen, Salem, Kennedy-Harris, Hunt, Cross, Bail, Riley, Harmes ®, King ®

With Evans & Barry now gone that means the importance of the 2015 season for the likes of the above cant be understated !!

* Trengove - huge decision will be made at years end

* McKenzie - IMO no chance of being on the list in 2016

* Fitzpatrick, Toumpas, Pedersen, Bail, Riley, - Under Prtessure

* Hunt, Harmes ®, King ® need to take steps

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
