Jack It 1 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Salem told the crowd at the Victory Room pre match last Sunday that his quad would stop him playing this weekend. He had it strapped Monday and was on light duties at training. Looking like a quicker than expected recovery atm.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Quarter Time in the Development League game - Casey Scorpions 3.5.23 lead Port Melbourne 1.4.10.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 The Borough got a hold of them that quarter and completely turned things around to lead 9.10.64 to 3.6.24 at half time. Ouch.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 DL @ 3/4 time and Port Melbourne 16.13.109 comfortably to Casey Scorpions 4.9.33
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Final score in the early game and the Borough have thrashed the Scorps by 112 points. It's looking like the precursor to an ugly day if you're a Demon fan. Fourteenth placed Casey seniors now take on top of the ladder Port (they're two games clear) while 17th placed Melbourne take on top of the ladder Hawthorn. The Scorpions have performed worst this year against experienced hard bodied teams - Port are exactly that. 2014 AFL Victoria Development League Casey Scorpions 3.5.23 3.6.24 4.9.33 4.10.34 Port Melbourne 1.4.10 9.10.64 16.13.109 21.20.146 Goals Casey Scorpions Fisscher 2 Collins Corry Port Melbourne Prowse 6 Clarke Rowe 3 Breust 2 Hogan 2 Hayes Henderson McKenzie Scipione Woods Best Casey Scorpions Fisscher Jackson Anderson Pears Smith Corry Port Melbourne Muling Prowse Prowse Hayes Johnston McKenzie
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Casey are kicking with the aid of a strong breeze and have the early lead 1.1.7 to 0.0.0. Jack Fitzpatrick kicked the first goal of the game after taking a solid mark.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Jack gets his second and it's 2.2.14 to 1.1.7
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Port fighting back. Scores level at 2.2.14 each.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Jake Best kicks a timely goal to give Casey a 5 point lead. 20 to 15.
SaberFang 7,151 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Haven't watched him play but this Best kid has been consistent this year in front of the big sticks. Is he worth a punt in the seniors?
bing181 9,473 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Good to see Fitzy amongst it already. (looking for some early positives on what promises to be a testing day ...)
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Port got on top late in the quarter and lead by 9 points - 4.5.29 to 3.2.20. Scorpions in trouble because the Borough have the use of the wind coming up. Goals Fitzpatrick 2 Best
bjDee 1,249 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Rucks are Davis and Fitzy. Doing ok - port are not tall in the ruck. Salem Clisby Harmes Nicho Fitzy all getting good ball time. Terlo has butchered a couple. Giorgiou is on a monster of a bloke put playing tough and smart. Strauss has made some nice deliveries off half back and from kick ins.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Casey making plenty of mistakes and costly turnovers have seen Port's lead go to 23 points.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Soft free in front to Port gives them a 5 goal lead. Casey nowhere to be seen.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Port in total control and lead by 43 points.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Half time Port Melbourne 10.11.71 lead a bedraggled Casey 3.2.20. The Scorps were woeful that quarter and failed to score. Goals: Fitzpatrick 2 Best Disposals: Morris 13 Clisby Fitzpatrick Harmes 11 Evans Terlich 10 Salem 9
bjDee 1,249 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 All AFL list players were quiet that quarter. Of them, the best in terms of touches was probably Clisby. Georgiou continued his tough battle down back and it became spiteful at times. Alex copped a jab to the face off the ball behind the umpires backs but got his own back by putting Andre the Giant on his arrse with a solid shirtfront bump. Port just playing free running play on footy, hand balling to overlapping players across half back and out of the middle, then shooting at goal on the run or out of packs at every chance. Most of them came off. Casey seem far less asventurous by comparison even when we had the wind. Might be time to move closer to the bar.
KC from Casey 7,211 Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 Port going the knuckle. Georgiou KO'd after a behind the play whack. He's come off the ground.
bjDee 1,249 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Alex was put down in the goal square behind the play by Andre while waiting for a shot on goal to be taken. Looks very groggy. Lots of jumper pulling by Scorps on Port players. Both players came off.
