Players to target in the 2013 / 2014 trade period

Featured Replies

After today's game I'm sure of one thing - we need more quality experienced players!!

I think we could definitely do with at least 2 mids with 1 of those being a real "A" class or elite player.

I also think we could do with a quality defender. With Rivers leaving chip has been exposed and its really up to him and col garland to run the show which is proving too much. Gillies is good enough and more of a stop gap...

So the question to ask is who is available?

And out of those who should we go after?

we will need to overpay stars to get then to come to us

even then.......

we need at least 1 quality mid, dale thomas would be great if we could get him.

I sadly think it is going to be extremely hard to lure anyone of worth to us.
Money talks but it's not everything, happiness and job enjoyment is huge.
Losing every week and being a laughing stock and ridiculed by everyone isn't alluring.
Remember Caddy and Wellingham? 2 players we targeted who wouldn't even consider us even though we had a "war chest" to use.
It's a sad state we are in, and one in which will be very hard to break.

I don't rate dale Thomas as an elite player, pendelbury, swan and as an up and comer Dane beams from the pies...

We need someone who can find there own ball and use it to hurt the opposition.

I once thought Gaff but he has dropped off this year.

We need to be the team who gets the next Goddard through FA, there must be a few becoming available can anyone confirm who target?

Mids & at least 1 gun backline player

We're dreaming at the moment if we think anyone will come to the club, we played our big card to get Clark a couple of years back. We will have to do it from within and maybe pick up a bargain trade somewhere along the track.

Of this years lot at least Bynes has started to show a little bit, the 2 mature agers have been ok, Pederson, Rodan and Gillies have been a waste. Dawes yet to play, who knows. The kids, Viney and Hogan will be the ones to build a future on Jimmy T hopefully will live up to his potential and I like Kent, has the attitude and game to be more than a very good player.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
