Swans set to take Tippett after GWS say no

Kurt Tippett is set to join AFL premiers Sydney in next week's pre-season draft after Greater Western Sydney officially withdrew their interest.

Former Adelaide forward Tippett, who will miss the first 11 games of the season for his role in salary cap breaches and draft tampering, nominated for Tuesday's pre-season draft and set down the financial terms of his contract.

It was thought Tippett's salary requirements meant only GWS and the Swans would be in a position to select the 25-year-old.

However, Giants chief executive David Matthews says the asking price of Tippett is too high and it wouldn't be prudent for the fledgling club to sign him.

What I don't understand is why refusing to meet with a club prior to a draft (eg Tippett/GWS, Ball/any club) is not tampering with the draft. Seems to me any player can walk from a club, refuse to meet with any club other than the one they choose, then head to that club of choice.

How is that not tampering with the draft?

Draft is irrelevant except for first time listings. Only a matter of time before they "refuse to meet" certain clubs.

Luke Ball did it,

Because they spent all their money on a hack with dodgy knees .

who, that hackknee'd donkey.

Sheedy on TV tonight regarding Tippett said "The PM doesn't get $900,00 pa and he's not PM material"

He obviously believes HWFUA must be PM material...................frightening

(still, given the current leadership quality of both parties, he might be on the money)
