16th position picks???

Featured Replies

Great news and with GC getting there first win this week and the dees still only on 2 wins there is still a great chance MFC will finish below GWS or GC.

Not that i like not winning but with the rest of the year being a training run no one will know were the picks will fall we could very well finish 18th or 17th.

This draft is shaping as the most important draft in the history of this club.

We are in need of the best Midfield players going forward so if we Have a chance to land Grundy we would be silly not to have a real good look.

I class ruckmen as apart of the Midfield and add to that 3 good mids in Toumpas,Viney and pick 12 Vlastin

When november comes around there is going to be some really good high end talent thrown into the mix at the MFC.

Cam Swabb said on Triple M that we will not take Viney if GWS over rate him.(Well done Cam) we will take him in the second round IMO.

Once we have another year under Neeld and co and a fit squad of Trengove,Blease,Jurruh,Clark,Davey,Sylvia,Watts,Gawn,Jamar,Gysberts and add to that a good trade or 2 and Grundy,Tompas,Viney and Vlastin the MFC will turn around alot quicker then may fans might think. This is also what Cam Swabb said yesterday that when asked when will the club play finals again. He said that our team will turn around alot quicker then the so called experts might think.

There has been a big change at this club in 2012 and at times it's bloody hard to watch.

But please dees fans give the new footy department time to show the bigger picture which is in place right now.

The MFC has spent big money in recent times so we have the best chance to compete with all the clubs in the AFL Neeld,Mission,Craig are very good at what they do.

2013 will be the start of the rise of the MFC so hold on sit back and enjoy the ride.

GO DEES

fantastic post. hits the nail on the head.

but it's true - unless we do deals we will pick him up with our first pick.

Then lets work out what deals we can do with both GWS and the Suns,

Do you think Collingwood, Essendon or shame Carlton would not

First rule don't get caught !

Jeysus, Big fella you're far more optimistic this week than last week, good to see.

A week is a long time in footy as they say

Looking forward to work tomorrow the Docker fans I work with are fairly humble and a lot of them texted me yesterday saying how lucky they were, the Meth Coast supporters will be talking up there injuries but fook them I hate that club and will just sit back watching the Dockers fans devour them

good logic and hope ... but for the last 3-4 years, this has been "written". By 2013, it was going to be the premiership year !!!!!

this is our last hope for a good draft and some A graders. Picks 3,4,12, 22 (lets hope its not Morton, Maric, Strauss, Bell types)

Yes footy is a funny game sometimes.

I am a very passionate fan and sometimes the heat of battle gets the better of me.

When i really sit back and look at things with a clear head it's easy to see the future of this club going forward.

We were always going to struggle with such a great shift in change.

The bad luck with injuries and form has not helped our cause in 2012.

But if you look at the year of players like Clark(wow),Jones,Mcdonald,Howe,Rivers,Watts it's easy to see these guy's have really grown under Neeld.

Also with the draft this year we are in a position to really build on the foundation Neeld has put together.

Names like Toumpas,Viney,Stringer,Grundy,Whitfield,Simpson,Wines we could throw 3 or 4 of these names into our list in 2013 and all of a sudden our midfield looks strong.

Trengove and Grimes have a full season under there belt as Captain and just keep growing.

Lets also say that our boy Jack watts is starting to really belong at AFL level and is growing into a great prospect.

Then there is Jurruh who has had a really hard year that can come in and just inject some real fire into our forward line again.

Every fan has been tested through 2012 but i really believe this club has finally started to build a bright future.

Great post big jim... great analysis! this draft is looming to be one of the more important drafts for the dees... if we can add some class in the midfield it will allow us to add to our spine:

Frawley

Garland

Jones

Jurrah

Clark

It will be interesting to see what happens with Watts if he stays back or goes forward.

Players to continue development: trenners, grimes, howe, blease, mcdonald, mckenzie, martin, morton,

Players needing to step it up further: nicholson, strauss, cook, gysberts, gawn, tapscott, petterd, davis

At the moment no super stars but hopefully a team full of hard working, dedicated players who play team football

Is this CS picking the list again? What MFC team did he write on a napkin this time? Keep your hands out of the football dept, Cam. Not impressed, if true.

I think your missing the point Moonshadow it's nothing about swabb telling the footy dep what to do it's cam swabb selling fear to GWS and GCS that if they bid on viney dont think we will roll over and pay overs for a kid who is not rated pick 1 or 2.

He is doing what you would want your club to do and that is letting GWS know that it's not as simple as we will just dummy bid to screw MFC over and for that we the members should be happy his doing his job

Yes, I see your point.

However, I hardly think GWS or GC will take what CS has to say seriously. They know what they have to do to make us take him, and so far they have both indicated that they will do just that.

I was making the point (separate from yours) that it annoys me to hear CS talk about the list and up coming draft as if it is his place to manage that. It was one of the main criticisms of him last year, that he tends to get involved unduly in matters of the FD.

He was asked the question about jack and just used it as a time to get the messege out that we are not going to be pushed into picking Viney at pick 1,2 or 3.

We must get this years draft picks right.

I think T.Viney will do a great job in picking the right type of players.

He would have seen alot of these kids coming through the ranks with his boy.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
