Great idea and a suitable way to honour the Great Man.

I would have preferred it if they just named the Northern Stand after him instead of unveiling out another meaningless award. Let the guy R.I.P. with a suitable monument.

The award is great...But Yes The Jim Stynes Stand is better...Let's keep hassling this one.

I think this is a great initiative.

Always tough to get the right combination of relevance and profile, but an award given on one of the biggest events on the AFL calendar, and specifically for an area in which Jimmy excelled off the field is a fitting way to remember the great man.

A stand at the G would be great, but I reckon all parties have done a great job with this idea.

Jimmy deserves also a constant reminder at the MCG...even if it is only for MFC home Games

MFC members sit in the Jim Stynes Stand..as well as the fine award given yearly.

I'd like for it to not be handed out every year. Only for when someone has consistently shown a real standout effort.

And no, blogging doesn't count as community commitment, Harry O.

I think the fact that Sam Stynes supports and endorses the initiative is enough. I am confident this will be handled and implemented in a manner befitting such a wonderful legacy.

But wouldn't the naming of a stand be an MFC/MCC initiative? This award is an AFL initiative and, I think, a great and well deserved honour. (I'm sure the stand named in his honour is not far away).
