  1. 1. Was overlooking Daniel Talia in favour of Jordan Gysberts a mistake by us at the 2009 draft?

Not really fussed over Talia - key defenders is the one area in which we're ok. He's a handy footballer, hardly the next Silvagni or Scarlett.

Let's start a hindsight poll about how we should've taken Fyfe instead of Gysberts & Ball instead of Tapscott. Itd have more relevance given our midfield is still shizen.

Talia just broke his arm... Lucky we didn't draft him hey... I mean, that's what this thread is all about right?

He always gets injured in finals-that's the mail.

100%

Over these types of threads.

Can we understand that this is going to be flogging a dead horse forever?

There's nothing we can do except move on.

Right. So we have a duty to pick players who want to play for us, do we?

I'm glad our recruiters aren't picking players just because they tell us they want to play for us.

Did I say that mate? Cant remember typing that anywhere. Just making the point that he could have been ours and unlike some draftees that considered Melbourne undesirable. Tom McDonald is a handy back.

I don't see how it's relevant.

Of course he could have been ours. But he isn't. The fact that he liked us does not mean we should have given him greater thought.

If we were going to consider him, it would have been for his ability and whether we thought he was the right fit. Not because he told us he wanted to play for us.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
