Numbers game

I was wondering what numbers may be available and who would want them.

The obvious empty locker numbers are:

1 With Matty wanting to go we can assume its free.

11

17

23

25

The ones that may be available will vary but IMO no. 6, 19 and 31

The players who might be offered an upgrade(IMO):

Steph martin, Max Gawn, Rohan Bail and Sam Blease

I would give Steph No.1., Blease No.6 and Bail No. 17.

I think Blease has asked for 17.

Source? Sorry, alzheimers

No idea of the source, but Blease's late father wore number 17.

I recall reading recently (on this forum, I believe) that Blease requested a meeting with Schwab & Stynes upon arriving at the club, to request the number 17.

Looks like it has been warehoused until Blease has done enough to earn it.

I think he now has.

pretty sure Blease had his heart set on no.17.

no. 1 should be retired forever, it has some sort of curse.

Hopefully no.31 isn't available.....

Stef Martin only moved to #34 a few years back, wanting to carry on the big man position from Whitey. He can keep it.

I hope it doesn't happen, but if Jim passes away before next year, retire #11 for a while.

Gawn can have #1, we've had a few ruckmen in that number.

I believe both Blease and Strauss asked for #17, and they couldn't split them, hence #46 and #47. I'd give Blease #17 and Strauss #23 or #25 if he wants it.

We could have #29, 30, 31 and 32 all free. #28 too if Joel Mac walks.

Fizty, Nicho and Pickles could all be looking at upgrades.

Jetta to #36?

Viney can have #18.

Those are taken by our captain and vice captain.

They were taken by our vice and captain in 2011. I don't expect to see either in 2012.

Anyone who wears #1 is doooooomed!!!!!!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
