Spot on Redleg

I don' want to appear a smart arse but i have just got home after a great 24 hours.

Baby sitting overnight my two and half year grand daughter never ceases to bring a smile to my face.

Then off to see Uni Blacks play De la salle in the top of the ladder clash.

Blacks won by 11 points, close game and by Amos standards a good one.

Nice to go to a football match were I have the belief that my team has a good chance of winning.

My wife and I had a good day meeting a couple of friends, couple of drinks in Carlton on the way home.

On the way home she said to me "nice to go to a games and enjoy yourself!"

Next comment was are you going to another dees game this year?

Hmm very good question

I have had a great 24 hours as well, dees haven't been thrashed today. Oh that's right Casey were done by 10 goals.

We have too many players who are not AFL standard. Our disposal is still poor. Our kick out plan doesn't exist. We need another 4 skilled mids.

The Kreuzer cup game appears to be the most costly in recent history. That win cost us Cotchin and Nic Nat.

Sounds like a weekend to savour, OD. If the iPad is still behaving itself, then maybe the only thing lacking is the Dees beating Hawthorn by 10 goals in two weeks time (yes, I am an idiot! )

Having just read some of the other threads on Demonland, I am extremely grateful that this one has not descended to the nastiness of a few of the others.

There is still a place for a laugh and a discussion on football and our club without being attacked.

Amen to that, Redleg. The Zen nature of this thread is a real joy.

iPad is working well R and B typing on it right now.

So all is well.

Ha ha the MFC beating Hawthorn I think you are at Starbucks right now.

Seriously mate I have gotten over the Dees.

Having spent five years of being irrelevant

I have accepted we are headed for the oblivion.

The only thing left is the time frame.

I am at peace

That last bit is the key, OD. Long may it last! Maybe one day we can sit near the old race, watch the Dees win and laugh about 'when we were crap' :-)

I hope we live that long mate!

It pays to remind yourself there is a lot more to life than a football team.

The Starbucks coffee was ok the banana bread tasted like stale cardboard.

Our players would drown.

I doubt it Redleg they would need to first find the effort needed to climb onto the diving board.

And if they did, with their skill, they would fall off.

Then drowning is a real possibility!

Presumably you won't be back, then? Unless you prefer fresh cardboard ...

Not to mention getting lost on the way down :)

Too right on both counts.

Well certainly not for banana bread.

Celebrity splash?... *shudders*

what would be our diving line up

top ten please

and you must name a coach and captain

1 being our best 10 least

and you must pick a sub no pun intended

I'd pick Viney (captain) as #1... because when he jumps in a pool he doesn't get wet - the water gets viney'd.

Followed by Yze, Robinson, Farmer and Howe for some theatrics

Then the rest would be our usual flops, Johnstone, Morton, Cook, Bennell, and Bate

Sub... Woewodin (got to have a 'star' in there)

For a coach I'd definately have MN for a bit of controversy... or a bit of inspiration for players to jump

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
