The old 'medical department' stitch up

Featured Replies

Mr 'as a physiotherapist' you tell all your clients it is bad luck do you or do you have any real useable answers?

Fail.

That's called a "false dichotomy" - proposing two answers as if they are the only answers. Maybe, just maybe, he sometimes does tell his patients that it's bad luck and (see, no dichotomy) has useable answers and (see, more than two answers) does things to make them better.

EDIT:

I understand that the more money you pay you can often get better people, so I understand your point curry and beer.

What I am trying to say is that some people blaming soft tissue injuries on the medical staff and assuming they dont know what they are talking about is just wrong.

We can disagree or argue the point but most of the injuries we have are just those of luck more than anything.

yeah i know, fancy people being dense enough to think that all medicos are the same, there is no correlation between quality of service and salary and that having a massive injury list every single year is simply bad luck

maybe we should just save a heap of coin and have volunteer supporters handle the injuries instead of doctors

fair dinkum are there any adults on this site

No adult here, just a kid who can't understand how, from the 12 players you've listed, the medical staff could have prevented the following:

2 * suspensions

leaves 10 medical mistakes

1 * concussion

leaves 9 medical mistakes

1 ankle sprain

leaves 8 medical mistakes

2 * PCL injuries

leaves 6 medical mistakes

1 * ACL injury

leaves 5 medical mistakes

1 * kidney laceration

leaves 4 medical mistakes - at best.

Of the remaining 4 (withstanding Andrew Daff running onto the field and shepherding our players at the stoppages) - Scully has been very carefully and conservatively treated, and as such has avoided a more serious condition - see the multiple threads and posts on that scenario. Grimes reportedly had no pain leading up to his navicular fracture (pain is the only warning you get for a fracture of this type). Rivers is listed by you - is he actually injured?

It's actually difficult to defend any of the situations you blame on the medical staff.

So you make a ridiculous post, where you've struggled to overcome even the most basic logic, while trying to present yourself as an expert, and while arguing with a physiotherapist about it.

It's amazing your brain generates enough power to keep your fingers moving over the keyboard.

"Any adults here?" - Arrogant [censored]!

The only way I could fathom your ranting in this thread is that you were stinking drunk when you posted.

Barry does make sense here...Far more than the original post.

Nailed.

As a physiotherapist, I have to say this is the stupidest post I have ever seen.....EVER, and I'm not going to give it credibility by explaining why. Take it down before someone gets hurt!

Mate what does the fact that youre a physio have to do with anything??It is not a stupid post at all. This is a forum where issues can be discussed between supporters and people can express their point of view without being shot down. Curry&beer who started the thread was just posing the question and when you do have as many injuries as weve had over a 5 year period there is nothing wrong with speculation about any underlying reasons.

The post was stupid.*

Few things are black and white, but this issue is... in that it's not black and white.

People are also free to express the opinion that he is completely wrong and that their very senses are offended by such a thoughtless accusation.

*Bear in mind, nobody has called the poster stupid, merely the post.

We are all capable of moments of stupidity, even I.

Fortunately not in this case.

hey mr comprehension where is the part of your post that addresses not just prevention but recovery of injuries, what about facilities, it is about not having money and its correlation with the injury list

for example you have 'crossed-off' an ankle sprain as an injury that could possibly have any responsibility with the medical department, how the hell do you know if the player was conditioned correctly and given the right advice and that after the injury he was properly treated/advised/provided with equipment/medication to ensure quicker recovery YOU DON'T KNOW DO YOU? You are just spouting off without even thinking. It might make you feel better to think that our financial situation doesn't put us at a massive disadvantage in every aspect of the competition but only a fool would bury their head that deep in the sand. The reason I pose this question in the first place is because I happen to know a young bloke at another club who was completely mismanaged with injury, as a result his foot is ruined and he has been delisted. The medicos did not do their jobs and totally stuffed him up, so I know for a FACT that there IS A DIFFERENCE in the way certain medicos perform, so what do you think of that genuis

no amount of garbage you write can change the FACT that we have had an absurdly poor run with injuries for many consecutive years and the FACT that we happen to have less money than most clubs and this is unlikely to be a coincidence. You seem to be sticking to your basic contention which is that we are just unlucky. Is that seriously all you have got?

btw, if i was to respond in the same name-calling manner that you have posted I would get a suspension from the site. Apparently some can give it and the others have to take it. Is that right mods?

yet you have not at any stage formed anything close to a refutation of anything i've said beyone 'nah youre wrong'

do you see the difference between that and the post i have just made, it's called DISCUSSION

people come here for discussion not pig-headed, ill-informed dismissal of arguments, keep it to yourself if ou have nothing of substance to say

Thank you for reminding me this place isn't 100% muppet

This thread started on a dubious note and has deteriorated further.
