And we have joint winners in the post season tipping comp ... DemonDave & myself came from the clouds to achieve victory

Well done Dave and good tipping!  In my case ... a flukers chance!

More details later but here are the Final Tallies

Final Leaderboard - Post-season Tipping Comp

24 - DemonDave, Macca

23 - Gorgoroth

21 - Clintosaurus

20 - Go the Biff

19 - JV7

14 - layzie, Dee Zephyr

6 - titan_uranus

Gratz to you both!!!

@layzie

Agree on the D line, A’Shawn Robinson was massive bs the run. Massive.
It was a weakness for us that got turned around as the season went and he and Gaines were the lynch pins. Yes, Miller meant those two could play more run stop and not have to push. But both were great especially across the whole play off run.

I truly hope we Re-Sign Beckham, Miller also but I don’t think we will be able to afford Miller.

Awesome stuff Gorg! Both teams winning their respective Premiership & Championships in the same season, what dreams are made of!

Also reckon the MVP awarded for the season needs to include the most important games for the season - the playoffs

And there is a way to do it instead of just taking the lazy option of separating the seasons

All votes or points could be collated prior to the SB by a panel of 12 hand-picked experts and those 12 can then allocate extra votes (or points) once the SB is completed ... would take 10-15 ,minutes

If that was done then Kupp wins the MVP for the season (in my view) Or perhaps even Stafford (who was very good throughout the playoffs)

Rodgers was a worthy winner in the regular season but again, the playoffs need to be included in order to find the overall winner

It’s always hard.
The biggest problem is the QB position is the most important. So will always get the nod. But teams plan more for Donald than any other player for us.
Kupp was insanely good this year and would have been a worthy winner. Kupp was great with Goff, Goff less so without Kupp. Kupp was insane with Stafford, Stafford less so without Kupp. It’s all linked, without all parts neither are great.

Good points but the biggest problem is that they don't count the playoffs (the most important games)

But neither do we with the Brownlow.
TBH if Henry couldn’t win it last year. No non QB ever will again.

I'm not too fussed if a QB wins it the majority of the time

But you make a good point re the Brownlow so I suppose the same sort of rules do apply.

However,  I reckon Kupp was the best in the NFL this year!!

Well played Dave and thanks to everyone for your participation.  Open to more suggestions but I reckon we've got the points system just about right.  Gives everyone a chance and the backmarkers are never really out of it ...  (cough)

So many thirds tho 😬

If OBJ doesn’t get hurt I might have got the margin right in the SB. Ahhhh what ifs… 🤣

Well that will de value the 500k for the last TD ball he just sold.

Seriously think this is a mistake. He should have stayed retired. I reckon he declines this year.

It's either/or with retirement in my view

Some don't ever want to quit so when that's the case, the mind is right at least

Will post up a few of the 'America's Game' Super Bowl doco's from time to time in the off-season but in the meantime, here's the Rams win in Super Bowl LVI - Mic'd up

Rams vs Bengals SB LVI Mic'd up (this link will take you to youtube)

Crazy days in the trade scenarios.

Von Miller 6yrs 120m

Adams leaves GB for the non play off team Las Vegas for less money than GB offered to play in the play offs.

Allen Robinson to the Rams, rumour is Robert Woods will be traded.

Davante is a big loss but does create a lot of salary cap relief & space ... 1st & 2nd round picks for Adams will probably be used on a couple of WR's anyway (effectively, on way less money)

And apparently, there is loads of college talent in the WR position in the upcoming draft

Still, he won't be easily replaced as the bloke is a star ... now he will be on the end of the Derek Carr passes so we'll see how that goes in that set up.  Reunited from Fresno State

Edited by Macca

Adam’s turned down more Money from GB to go to Vegas. Blows my mind.

Watson to Browns, 5 yrs 230m 100% guaranteed… still has 22 civil lawsuits against him… ahhhh the Browns make me laugh.

Green Bay were only going to pay him $22Million this year but the Raiders have given him $140Million over 5 years ... which makes him the highest paid WR (ever?)

He'd bought a house there a while back and I'd say the club knew he was going.  Hard to match that kind of money especially when Rodgers is already taking a big slice

Anyway, I'm of the opinion that Rodgers can always find his WR's ... our real issues and weaknesses aren't in that area

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
