Green Bay were only going to pay him $22Million this year but the Raiders have given him $140Million over 5 years ... which makes him the highest paid WR (ever?)

He'd bought a house there a while back and I'd say the club knew he was going.  Hard to match that kind of money especially when Rodgers is already taking a big slice

Anyway, I'm of the opinion that Rodgers can always find his WR's ... our real issues and weaknesses aren't in that area

Protect him well enough and he would find the worst receivers. Get the run game humming with a good oline and watch his slice the secondary.

Jodie Nelson left and that didn't effect the passing game at all ... Davante is a very good player but the overall passing yards is down to Rodgers' expertise

All the rest of it is problematical though.  Pass defence, run defence, running game & special teams all questionable

So we do one thing sensationally well and if that area is curtailed somewhat, we are therefore then quite vulnerable

I feel like I've said the above for 7 or 8 years now and not much has changed in that time ... it would help if the NFC North was a stronger division.  As it stands, we get too many easy victories against mediocre opposition (over time)

So a false sense of security sets in which leads to being knocked out of the playoffs by teams that do their homework on the Packers

The thing is at the moment you have two very good RB’s and it’s time to lean on them more I reckon,

Yeah Dillon & Jones are very good but not exceptional against the teams with good run defence.  Between the 2 of them only 67 yards against the 49ers in the divisional round playoffs

I reckon the classic addition to a team that were screaming out for a terrific QB are the Bucs.  And I can see why Brady wants to continue on ... an 8th ring is on the offer

If Tampa were an average team, he might have retired.

This is why I think the packers would be best served by getting a great oline especially for the run game. Rodgers keeps himself clean quite well but as you said the run game could be elevated well.
Rams I hope put more effort into the run game and getting a very good blocking TE would be priority.

Have to agree, a good line with a slight tweak in schemes and you'll not only see more holes for those guys but Rodgers finding even more open targets. Extremely simple in theory and I'm sure they are working on this.

As for Devante, it is a loss of course but at that money I think he has to walk. I'm a fan and by no means would I say he just some dude that Aaron throws open, he's a smooth route runner and gets good separation but there's just something about this that smacks of a typical Raiders pension plan. I dunno.

Matt Ryan traded to the Colts for a third round pick

What at absolute [censored]-up by Atlanta. Go chips all in on Watson & then it blows up in their face. Treated their greatest & most loyal player in franchise history with complete disrespect, I know the salary cap relief from moving on Ryan was a huge benefit but the way this played out was so so poor.

Then to top it all off they sign Marcus [censored] Mariota lol! They will be lucky to win a game next season, their roster is absolutely cooked. They clearly recognise this & have already written next year off... The current depth chart is actually embarrassing to look at.

Good luck to Ryan, hope there is a cinderella story like his great mate Matthew Stafford!

Thoughts on Bobby Wagner @Gorgoroth? 5 years 50 mil, it seems on the steeper end of things. But only 31 I guess.

Stoked. Turns 32 in June, but our big weakness is missed tackles, 148 for the year (5th worst) and we play the niners twice where Wagner excelled with 19 tackles in those two games.

TBH, I don’t think he will see out more than 3years with the Rams. I think we are all in the next three years and then done.

Wagner always excels against the Niners Gorg, you don't have to remind me 😛

As he did against us.

Fisher really wanted him, Snead thought he could drop to us and so didn’t trade up, it’s been his mantra since. Don’t bobby Wagner this. Trade and get what you need, don’t wait and hope.

Deebo Samuel scrubs any mention of the 49ers from his Insta profile. Will try not to panic but it certainly doesn't feel good.

Wants t9 be the highest paid WR in the game. Can’t see a team paying him more than Adams or Diggs. He is good, but he ain’t elite yet.

Deebo asked for a trade. GB early front runners.

Yeah it's turned pretty sour, hasn't given a reason why and we won't know anything for a while other than where he lands. If it has anything to do with how he's been used in the offense then I can kind of understand and we have to take some blame for that.

Heard the Cowboys linked this morning and I really can't see that happening. Whoever gets him is going to have to make him the highest paid WR in football most likely..

Draft day tomorrow….

Les Snead… [censored] them picks, see you day three 🤣😂

Great to see Aussie Daniel Faalele taken by the Ravens in the 4th round. Out of the University of Minnesota he's 206cm and 174kg! The heaviest in the league!

Rugby background and also basketball I believe. He was first brought over to the states when the University of Michigan ran a 'satellite camp' here in Melb. Good to see these pathways are opening up for the Aussies!

First QB taken at 20, no others taken in the first round.

From 8 to 20 6 WRs were taken! Very receiver hungry teams there.

We won't mention anything about how badly that stuffed up trying to get a trade for Samuel..

Deebo’s problem is he doesn’t fit a mould so there is no real market value for him, and he wants top top dollars yet the style he plays doesn’t suit all teams. Going to be interesting.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
