I wish the season would start soon. I miss it.

What's you guys thoughts on gamepass this year @Gorgoroth @Macca @Dappa Dan do any of you normally purchase it ? It's gone up to $279. I still will get it, easiest & most reliable way to watch Falcons games

It's cable for me JV (since the mid 90's) but more specifically, ESPN.  Redzone, Sportscenter, NFL Primetime and all the associated shows fulfill my needs.  SNF & MNF are also on the must watch list ... I'm hangin' out for the season to start.  Redzone especially is great.

I pay about $60 per month (HD & IQ) but I get a stack of other sports and other stuff so I see cable as fantastic value.  I'm not sure I could cope without it.

What do you get for the game pass?  Every game? What's the picture like when fed through to the telly?

Yeah I've got foxtel at home it's just I can't watch every falcons game but getting up towards $300 is getting a bit pricey... Gamepass gives you every game, condensed or coaches film etc & then you get NFL network & all the football docos like A Football Life etc plus any game over the last 6 or 7 years... But I just find it hard to get the time to watch it all to make it worthwhile. The stream to the TV is perfect 99% of the time

Since I moved to the country obe stuck with foxtel. adsl1 aint great with game pass. I do miss having reach Rams game on hand.

I reckon it's pretty dodgy. If you try to get out of it, it takes a big effort. I'm flush with cash this year, so will go again... but I'm only a few small paydays away from getting rid of it.

Yeah definetly not easy to unsubscribe, I tried to turn off my auto renew & there is no way to do it unless you email them... One of my colleagues said he'll go halves so that makes it doable

Yeah it's ridiculous. And it doesn't even work that well.

It's strange to be this close to the season and not hanging out for the season to start.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the year ahead (Rams will be poor tho ) but with the Dees dont well I'm not as keen for theNFL to start ?

NFL for me has become one of my favourite sports to watch (as a whole) ... it's right up there with Test Cricket but It's probably the only sport (NFL) where I have a really keen interest from week 1 to the Super Bowl.

Most other sports I tune in and out of or the interest is primarily the finals/playoffs or major events like the Olympics/Tour de France or Golf & Tennis majors.

The big impact with the NFL is how things can change dramatically from week-to-week.  The division/conference/playoff set-up is second to none with regards to maintaining interest and there are just a stack of storylines (and that's week to week as well)

It's a sport where it's so much more than just about your own team (well, that's how I view the sport anyway)

I'm not sure @JV7 can bear to click on the following link ...

Me too. I'm happy to watch any game and whilst I follow the rams I'm reading/ watching other teams through out the season. Don't do that for any other sport other than AFL.

100% agree Macca, easily become my 2nd favorite sport. Spewing I only jumped on 4 years ago, missed out on a few years!

Thanks for that link at bottom:(... Training camp started today & I'd thought that would close the chapter on that horrible day.

It's funny in our game it's always "you got to lose one to win one" yet in the NFL the losing SB side is always bound for a "hangover" and history backs it up. In some ways it's easier to win one in the NFL, be the best of 4 sides & make the playoffs and anything can happen yet it's so hard in different ways. In AFL sides until last year had to finish top 4 for a genuine shot but get a double chance..

Hearing Goff talk about how mucj bettet he feels this preseason is good but I'm fearing he will be a bust.

I really can't justify the game pass. Was on it for a while and then when they had the option of only getting your team's games I did that but it's just too much now.

For those without cable or a game pass the Seven Network will be covering 3 live games again on Monday's (our time) ... and that includes SNF.  That agreement is for the 2018/19 season as well.

There's a decent line-up of Thursday night games again this season ... the Pats & KC kick off the season on Sept 7th (Friday 8th our time) and here's the full line-up of Thursday night games.

Yeah. This will be my last season on it. It's pretty absurd. My whole fantasy league is over it.

Speaking of fantasy league... Anyone?

Hey welcome to the club JV.

Now that you're a fan, do you see things the NFL does well that the AFL can institute? The gap between them and us is really what guys like Hutchy are at the forefront of.

I do think we are way back in terms of the broadcast & the use of technology... In the NFL they can see if a ball is caught or hit the ground down to the last millimeter (as much as I don't want to relive it but that catch by Edelman in the SB) yet over here the score review system is pathetic, a pixelated shot from miles away to see if it hit the post or was touched of the boot, I'm sure with the billion dollar TV rights they could come up with something better than what we have now.

When I first started watching I was staggered to find out there is up to a 4 year gap between playing sides but the more I've watched and learnt from more I understand & obviously with a 32 team comp it's the only way around it. I still do find it strange how the 2 best teams could be in the same conference so the 2 best sides don't always make the SB but guess you get the conference championship game for that.. I do like the divison set up though, as I've stated before it gives supporters & teams hope each year that they can make a run at the playloffs and unless a side is a run away in the divison the games late in the season have meaning as you are always thereabouts in the divison

Sammy Watkins to the Rams, Gaines to Bills. Both injury prone, loved Gaines but stoked with Watkins if he can get fit.

If Watkins stays injury free that's a huge weapon for the Rams offense.. Saw a stat at the same stage of their careers Watkins & Julio Jones have put up almost identical numbers

Yeah big if tho. They say Goff looked decent on his limited time.

Not long now guys. How's everyone's team training camps going? I'm hoping my 49ers can at least get 4 wins or above this season.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
