Demonology .v. Demonland

Featured Replies

Actually, I believe he has considered pulling the plug in the past, and today's particularly nasty episode may just be the proverbial straw. And I suppose the relevance here is that the poster under discussion is a member of Demonland as well (or so he says), and given the sociopathic nature of his attacks, there is no reason he may not take the same route on this site given the right (or wrong) set of circumstances.

Well... there's a few reasons. They're called mods. Once 'ology gets Tim back, I feel like there's enough people who love it to get it back on track.

Hey, if Bigfooty can continue to operate, 'ology can. Just needs to get back up to speed.

That member was banned for life recently after an out-of-control spate of posts, but as there is no way of enforcing the ban other than a site administrator removing his posts as and when they appear, there is no way of stopping him. Sadly, unless something is done, that could spell an end to Demonology which I think would be grossly unfair to Tim, who has dedicated himself to the site whenever his health has allowed.

Indeed. There doesn't appear from what I gather to have someone officially banned from the site, it's a matter of deleting the culprit's post at best.

It's a shame really having read this thread on what has happened today. It's not only unfair on Tim and his site but for the many posters who use D'Ology to get their fix on footy related topics and discussion.

I'm sure things will eventually will work out and those who may have temporarily left can enjoy Demonland and one day return without the current nonsense.

ology will be back.....its only cos of tim's illness that it has lagged in the last year

If theer is an arguement going on and you add your opinion you've added to a debate whether you stick around and debate it further or not. If you're going to be a ridiculous pedant at least get it right.

No. Not added to a debate, added to a discussion. Their different.

Thats what I'm talking about. To discuss something is a calm relaxed 2 way dialogue without competativeness.

A debate is competative, by its nature, adversarial.

Do you get what I mean. I don't come on here to be competative, but just to find info.

If I want to be competative I'll go out & compete in some sporting activity. Without abuse & insults. If I get insulted out on the street or at the footy, I can do somthing about it. But most people don't happen to insult me out there?

Ah you used the word argument, I don't think I enter into any arguments on here, not knowingly anyway.

Do you think posts are arguments.

Hey, if Bigfooty can continue to operate, 'ology can. Just needs to get back up to speed.

Doesn't hurt that the place makes wads of cash

He won't get far with the moderation of this site. Sometimes it can seem a bit pernicketty but it stops what you're describing so we can be grateful for our moderators.

I tried to join 'ology too, off and on for 2 years now. No success.

'Land is more, maybe tolerant? of a much wider spectrum of ideas and I appreciate the left-field stuff even if I don't sometimes agree. It's always food for thought. Yze-Magic adds colour and sort-of pins one end of the spectrum. I like the guy and when we win our next flag his true love for every player in a Melb jumper will come shining through.

'Land probably saved my sanity with the start we had to our first season under DB (who I've come to respect as a solid teaching coach, great for the young side we'll see run out tomorrow).

The what makes what, now?

Seriously?

That 'aint right.

I've stopped posting on Ology because I'm sick of the petty, vindictive snipers that permeate the site. I don't mind a heated debate, I’ve enjoyed posting there but now there are too many that aren’t even remotely interested in the subject line and just go straight for the poster, irrespective of what he says.

I have never posted there, but don't even visit any more for this reason...

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
