Are we now wanting someone to take Meesen/Newton to have a possible rookie of one of these or Mitch Thorp? Do Hawks have an extra spot?

The ND is over and Newton and Meesen remain.

I think it's time we accepted we're stuck with them and move on. Our list is Joel Macdonald shy of being final for 2010.

Correct McDonald is the only other one we'll be adding to the list. Unfortunately what we know (Meesen, Newts, other rookies) are no where near as exciting as potential draftees like Panos and family related players like Grimes but we must move on.

No Nasher there is still hope I believe.

Newts or Meesen could be still picked up in the PSD or in the Rookie by someone else.

Just don't hold your breathe though.

I think Hawthorn are thinking of picking a ruckman as a mature age rookie but i think we should not be greedy and accept them as rookies. I'm thankful this was allowed to happen and we could take a punt on Gawn and Fitzpatrick.

I would LOVE if people would watch players play before claiming that you would LOVE them to be at the club.

And Ah Chee is too young isn't he?

I'm still not sold on Macdonald.

Anyone in favor of the golden "Thanks but no-thanks" handshake for Meesen and Newton? We will give you a years salary NOT to be rookie listed. Gives us two picks to rookie someone worth rookie listing. Not going to happen, but they have to realize that they will not be on the list next season anyway.

Some great rookie options available with Grimes, Daw, Panos, and Patrick. Meesen and Newton have plenty of footy left, but for a rebuilding club we need guys who have a higher ceiling on the off chance we can unearth something special.

These are all KPP's that we should target in the Rookie Draft. Personally, i think that there is absolutely no use redrafting Meesen as we have just drafted two ruckmen in Gawn and Fitzpatrick. All these KPP's were expected to be drafted so imo the Dees should take a gamble on one of them.

I'm hoping that all delisted players have to pass through the preseason draft before the rookie draft.

Maybe one or both may get taken prior to the rookie draft. I don't know which teams have list space available for the preseason draftees.

This surely would be our only hope to take fresh rookies.

Veteran Demonland Trackwatchers Kev Martin, Slartibartfast & Demon Wheels were on hand at Gosch's Paddock to kick off the official first training session for the 1st to 4th year players with a few elder statesmen in attendance as well. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning. Joy all round, they look like they want to be there.  21 in the squad. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The first round draft pick at #13 from twelve months ago the strongly built medium forward has had an impressive introduction to AFL football and is expected to spend more midfield moments as his career progresses.
