THE COACH AND THE DISCIPLE

one handed bottle feeding..... Glenelg have stepped it up a gear, and lead 31-19

Trengove just showed some super silky skills.... Took posession, lifts the ball in one hand over an opponent... and delivers straight to the chest of a teammate....Commentators love him

A much needed goal after the Bays kicked 2.

Glenelg 4.7.31 to Sturt 4.1.25

Jack must be closing in on Scully for #1 pick.

Sturt are now in front.... Trengove is definately in the best for Sturt.... His work around the ground is fantastic and as the commentators have said, his class for an 18 year old is fantastic.... Up against some big blokes in this match and shows no hesitation at all...

Trengove takes a grab in the middle and delivers into the forward line.... Teammate unable to take a grab..... The kid is everywhere

Great to hear that he is both classy and hard at the contest. I'm almost more excited about this kid than I am about Scully.

Half time siren blows..... Glenelg have a kick after the siren from 50m on the boundary.... No score.... Sturt up by 1 point after trailing by 15 at the first break...

ABC radio commentator said Trengove is probably the outstanding player on the ground so far and no wonder he'll be highly sought after in the draft.

Quite a wrap for an 18 yr. old.

Trengove had a much better 2nd quarter & had a hand in several Sturt goals.Sturt now lead at the half 32-31.Trengove had 6 kicks,1 handball,4 marks & 3 tackles in the 2nd quarter.Overall stats to the half-8 kicks,5 handballs,5 marks & 3 tackles also with a few clearances. If you watch the game i think you can forget about some of the rumours that people are saying about him beung soft, the SANFL is very physical & they dont pay the same soft frees as AFL,lots more head high stuff & physical in the packs.Hes also very good mark as he has shown & likes to have a jump.Great skills as were seen when he set up 1st goal. Also has some speed & guts & likes to take on tacklers, hes side stepped several players & stayed calm under pressure to find a target.Ive seen him live several times here & think he has massive potential, just hope Melb see it the same way& take him num 2 in the Draft.Donald Dickie is assistant coach at Sturt said that you tell him something once & he just does it,is a natural leader.Said they will give him rests because hes done U/18 here plus 18 carnival, league here plus school footy & now finals,so hes had a long tough year & is still going strong.Shows good character to me

He just seems to be everywhere.... If he doesn't have possession of the ball he is laying tackles, he takes a lot of marks around the ground as well.... His work at the stoppages is fantastic.... He goes in hard as nails and doesn't give a toss if the blokes are bigger than him.... Has great poise and skill when in possession of the pill and seems to have heaps of time to make a decision.... His kicking on both feet is superb and he can take a contested grab....

The kid is a definate pick IMHO.... I am not a Sturt sopporter (Norwood all the way), but me and my mates (some of whom play SANFL) all think that Trengove is fantastic! I would even go as far as to say he is better than Gibbs was at this level.... Has a decent sized body and has leadership written all over him.... Seems to do the things that lift his teammates when the chips are down....

All in all, I think we NEED this kid!

Dont lynch me now people but i think the same thing that he could even be num 1 pick.I believe if he was in melb playing now & more people seen him live he would rate higher, dosnt matter though as hopefully we take both Scully & Trengove, pray

He takes contested marks, good in close, doesnt care about the size of his opponent.

Jimmy Bartel? :P

I have not seen Scully live, but I have seen JT live on a number of occasions...... I find it hard to say which one is better as I have seen some footage of Scully which is very impressive.... But Trengove is just awesome to watch live.... Will be bloody awesome if we grab both.... Surely the club cannot overlook Trengove!?!?!?!

thanks for the updates guys!

i just hope the dees selectors are watching this game! Having Scully & Trengove in our midfield will be so exciting.. please dont waste the pick on morabito when we have a safe star in trengove!!

Trengove has found a teammate inside 50 (again)

Important kick..... misses.... Glenelg by 5 points

Anyone seen any MFC scouts in the crowd? ie Barry Prendergast? haha

That is the all important thing about Trengove..... He WILL make it in the AFL..... And performs in big games against grown men at the age of 18....

Bode kicks a goal from a pass from TRENGOVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Aha, Jack wins the ball of the ground and sets up Bode for the goal.

Trengove is still in everything.... The comentators are now praising his balance and the way he holds his feet in a tackle.... Doesn't seem to go to ground....

My posts have slowed up a bit, apologies, but the 8 month old demon in the house is demanding attention.... He is a bit sick of watching, what he probably thinks is, Richmond on the TV :D

Trengove in it again.... Trengove stands up in another tackle (dare I say it ala G.Ablett) and handballs to a teammate, who kicks a goal.... Sturt in front by 8 points now...

I will make a statement and say that I think Trengove is best on ground!!

Toby Thurstans (Ex Port) has done his knee after going for a fly.... Undortunate.... Playing for Sturt these days....

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
