Geez Cheney's unlucky l reckon

Agreed. I'd play Cheney ahead of Bell. Bell's had his chance and he's not good enough. Give the young kids a go. Harsh? Maybe, but justified, I think.

Just arrived and sat down at our table. Saw DemonDeb and Garry Marchant, two very hard workers for the club.

Hope there isn't another confrontation involving Jimmy tonight. The table prize list says "Second prize is a Grand Old Fag DVD". Do we have to offend everyone?

how was practice mate?

I heard 2 players are in a bit of doubt and the club brought 2 emergencies with them.

CC has done the warm up. Waiting for Dean Bailey.

Too hard to type, eat and listen at the one time so I'll report on the evening tomorrow. After DB's talk, CC interviewed two impressive young guns in Cale Morton and Jack Grimes and two board members Don McLardy and Peter Spargo spoke of the some of the club's initiatives going into the future.

A great night for the club and here's hoping the players do what's necessary tomorrow night.

I went to training tonight.. Just a light practice as you would expect.. The emergencies brought up were Dunn and Cheney.. None of the other players looked injured but Jones seemed to do a mini fitness test but he looked the goods.

petterd is named as an emergency. does that suggest to anyone that he has been squeezed out rather than dropped for form?

A bit of both I suspect, but to answer some posts regarding Pettard being played out of position...in order to fit him in the team, Bailey has to play him out of position, because generally he's good enough to get a game, but not good enough to break into our ever improving back half. I'd say Dean recognises his potential and it's not a case of wasted talent, especially if you've got better blokes in front of him.

Couldn't agree anymore. I'm sick and tired of people judging players and criticizing players like bell. Give him a chance!

He's had a terrible run with injuries of late so you have no right to bag and complain about him until he's played a game or two. Many of you were saying Garland was one of the worst players to put on the MelbourneFc jumper....and now look at him. I can't wait for him to play a good game this week to prove people like DemonTraveller wrong!

I dislike "bashing" players, but there is a difference between Bell and Garland. Bell has been around for years and has had time to prove himself, whereas Garland was only a youngster trying to prove himself (which so far he has done IMO).

He's talking about the little spat between Jimmy and Mick Coglin over a speech Jimmy made at a President's lunch before a recent game at the MCG. I seem to recall there was a brief thread here on Demonland about it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
