interesting ex player... KenMcKaige

.........met an interesting ex "elderly" mfc player today. Out shopping today , in the shopping centre carpark at Mordialloc, I saw this elderly gentleman with MFC stickers all over his walker and his car. Being the reserved quiet person, that I am ( NOT !!!) I had to go up and speak to him....but a long chat and history I didn't expect. His name is Ken McKaige ( born 1929), who played for the Demons 1950 1951 and 1952, so he said, but my little book of history states alittle different.... maybe his memory is fading. He left the dees with the encouragement and blessing of the club to go to Carlton ( who paid him better, but treated him not so good... so came back to his beloved Dees)). A real character indeed. Not keen on today's game plan. Very happy with Jimma in control but had not so good comments on previous presidents; esp Gutnick and Gardiner...had forgotten Szondy but not much to remember on him anyhow !!!!. Apparently he helped set up the 'past players asscoc" and praised Jimma for asking all past players to a lovely night in the Long Room. (MCC) Anyway, as I was getting tried, he seemed to full of energy , reliving his past. A dear old fella, who simply still loves the Mighty Dees. Sees a future for us, but need to play 4 qrts.
