Changes against the Hawks

Out: Dunn, Moloney (if injured)

In: Rivers, Bennell

Rivers will be important against the hawks so we need him back.

Let's not get carried away with the so-called injury to Moloney. Since there's not even a whisper of this anywhere else other than DD's post, I'd assume it's wrong.

I'd be tempted for no change. Dunn's always my default 'out' when there's someone I want in, however I don't think he was as bad as he has been today, and is Rivers really worth an automatic selection? He could come in as it'll be all hands on deck with the Hawthorn forwards, but who else can come out? The alternative is to leave Bennell out, but I don't really want that either. There's nobody else I can think of that would be a reasonable out. Tough week for selection I think.

In: One of Bennell or Rivers (haven't decided which yet)

Out: Dunn

IN: Bennell, Rivers, Spencer

OUT: Dunn, Moloney (inj?), Valenti

FB: RIVERS, WARNOCK. WHELAN

HB: CHENEY, MARTIN, BENNELL

C: MORTON, McLEAN, DAVEY

HF: SYLVIA, MILLER, PETTERD

FF: BATE, ROBERTSON, MARIC

FOLL: SPENCER, BRUCE, JONES

INT: BARTRAM, GRIMES, JOHNSON, McDONALD

we lost frawley and rivers but matched up well because of the dogs small forward line. yes rivers is an automatic selection, wheelan was solid today but is not part of big picture so outs are wheelan, dunn , valenti , ins are green , rivers , bennell

IN: BENNELL, RIVERS

OUT: DUNN, PETTERD

If Green is fit then out Valenti (the coach said that he will play Valenti next week so I would say that Green still won't be fit enough)

Out: Dunn, Moloney(if injured as suggested)

In: Rivers, Bennell

No change.

I think Moloney had a cramp but I can't be sure.

Dunn's the easy one but I think they'll keep playing him.

Bennell to stay out to give Cheney a run

Valenti is going to have a few weeks in the one's

Looking at Rivers come off and with his history you'd think it would be at least 2 - 3 weeks

I'm one of the non-believers when it comes to Valenti. I saw nothing today to make me change my mind on his future.

That said I'd be disappointed if he got the chop this week. If they're not going to give him a genuine opportunity to stamp his spot on the list then there was no point playing him today. As I said in the delistings thread, give the fringe youngsters a real chance or don't bother at all.

Spencer is not even playing in Casey's seniors so that won't happen.

Having heard that I'd say instead of Spencer they should play Bell as someone who is capable of playing tall in defence and Martin can play as 2nd ruck again. Jamar needs to play a few games with Casey still.

If Moloney is indeed fit I would give Bennell another week with Casey.

green was on radio before game saying he is good to go

not denying he'll play, but 2 weeks ago i heard him say the docs were telling him he was still 3-4 weeks off but he was feeling fine and was trying to convince the coaches he could play in 2...

it will be interesting if it is greens call, or the coaches call!

green said he was right and was told by medico`s give it one more, the whole thing seems a bit quick to me, hes got half his face wired up and we are sitting 1 and 7 , give him another month , more healing time,

Three possible OUTS for me: Dunn, Petterd & Bartram

INS if fit: Green, Rivers, Bennell

But I'm not convinced about likely fitness of the first two. and Bennell's very much in the learning school. BTW when is Wonna going to be ready??

Maric & Valenti deserve more time, they're learning. Valenti showed some nice promise, first qtr particularly.

What about bringing in J. Watts, let him watch Buddy & Roughead & Williams & co first hand!

Three possible OUTS for me: Dunn, Petterd & Bartram

Bartram has been playing good footy. He has been playing as a tagger all year. They spoke about how well he is playing on the radio. He was on cooney and did a great job today.

Will not get dropped.

I'm sure you're right he won't get dropped, it's just his disposal and decision-making at times that he needs to work on.

Valenti & Maric would go before him, but I'm wanting to see them get opportunities and see if they are learning.

bartram is a spud x 2 which makes him a dud. he lacks skill and awareness reminds me of godfrey who was just as bad. bartram should be playing in the casey reserves. he was bordering on shocking and shithouse today.

I love Petterd, but he got done like a dinner today. He seems to be enduring at the moment. I love that he can kick a goal or two even when being well held, but would a run or two at Casey help him at all?

I'd put him in the gun along with Dunn at this stage, if anyone...

That said, this is my preferred:

INS:

nil

OUTS:

nil

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I'd love to see a settled side once or twice this season.

If Watts has a solid game for Casey tomorrow I would love to see him being called up for next week against the Hawks.

I understand many people want to protect the young fella but to me it doesn't make sense.

Cale Morton has played pretty much all of last year and has played every game this year I think and look at the size of him !!

Justin Westhoff for the Power is another example. He was a stick creature in his first year at AFL level.

It can't be because of his build. If he is training as much as the main group then we should play him !!!

If not, then I understand why we are waiting...

He is about 8 weeks behind everyone else. So he isnt ready.

8 weeks?? Surely not that much.

He wouldn't be playing Casey seniors if he was 8 weeks off.

Yeah they started him and blease really late.

Yeah they started him and blease really late.

No no I understand that they had different programs at the start of the season because of School but surely Watts is closer than 8 weeks away considering he is playing Casey one's.

Another pathetic post.....you're on a role.

Lets hold off on Watts till at least round 14. There's no need to rush him and the extended run with Casey will do him good. Also that way he'd only play 9 games this year meaning he'll be eligable for the NAB rising star award next year aswell as this one.

As I said before I think Bell and Rivers should come in for Dunn and Valenti and if Moloney isn't fit then I'd like to see Bennell come back in for him.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
