Team selection vs Bulldogs

I was judging him on his games last season. I dunno about everyone else, but I just found his lack of pace hurt us in the middle and he seemed to get caught out by his slow decision making. Still, we'll have to see how he fronts up to a generally quick side, in the Doggies.

Our midfield as it look for tomorrow is certainly not quick and a little one dimensional with Valenti coupled with Jones, McLean and Moloney.......

I thought Cheney and Whelan would be in.

Good week to go short.

Valenti a lacklustre but understandable inclusion. Good luck to the fire hydrant.

Jamie Bennell more than earnt his rest.

Good post, The doggies have reasonably small forward line so I don't think the backs will be exposed that badly.

> Good luck to my man Matty Whelan

> Valenti has given his all to get a game, glad to see him rewarded.

I must say I am looking forward to a good old fashioned saturday arvo game for a change. MORE PLEASE.

Agreed. They're all ball winners, without leg speed. We need quicker players around them. As you say, one dimensional.

Who's gonna play on Cooney? Is someone like Dunn going to come in off the wing?

yer ok. But if you judge people on there first few games then what about warnock, garland and frawley.

They didnt have the best of starts all three now are apart of our promising future.

Dunno, he's named (for what that's worth) at centre half back  !!!

True, which is why I'm prepared to wait and see. But if he doesn't show anything this season, he doesn't have the promise, IMO that those three had.

Yuk our back line brings back bad memory's.

Bennell Must have needed the rest.

Why is DUNN at CHB ?

Valenti....well lets see how he goes first.

Dunn will be in the forward line. I suspect Martin to go at C.H.B

I reckon that resting Bennell is very sensible. With Wheels back we should be OK in that dept.

Valenti is too good a player not to give another opportunity.

With Garland, Meesen on LTI, can we promote another. Hughes maybe?

I too considered Valenti as too slow, until I saw him a couple of weeks ago against Coburg. His pace was evident (mind you, I guess it is easier to look pacy when you're at VFL level against bodies that don't have the same level of fitness).

Today is very important for Valenti.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
