I do feel that people like Rohan connolly can do better. A short read of the team line up today has him dishing out a real back hander "...Melbourne of 2009 looks more competitive than last years version, the kids showing enough signs to keep what faithful there arecoming back....." Pity he couldn't get a crack in there about 4 wheel drives and the snow for gods sake. Doesn't the fool realise that we have just passed 30,000 members in an extremely testing time for our great club. This is some achievement when some of our rival teams with a few more wins on the board are doing worse in the membership stakes.

On a more positive note, there is a great article about Flash on page 5 of the Age today, (sorry no link from me). He is impressing me more and more, he is showing all the leadership aspirations that a club like ours is crying out for. Maybe the next great Melbourne skipper?

Go Dees!!!!!!!

We must remember that what passes for knowledge among many sports reporters is what someone else has said before.

So we are stuck with these recycled variations of old Coodabeens routines.

Yeah only 14 and a half thousand turned up to the G on a wet and gloomy Sunday evening, but no-one makes anything of the fact that a day before only 15 and a half turned up at Geelong.

Why doncha email the bludger - tell him to think for himself for once. Or just think.

Connolly is absolutely right.

Its amazing how thin skiinned some posters can be while actually being in denial of the reality of the situation.

Just turn the page and go to the amusements and weather.

Connolly is absolutely right.

Can't wait to see what he says about the Saints membership figures then.

I'd rather aim for Hawthorn or WestCoast -like figures, rather that accepting "At least we're not as bad as <insert club name here>"

Yeah, pretty much. It was only a passing comment, and while we have signed a loot of members, it's widely believed that we don't show up to games, they we're not vocal. True or not it's the popular belief. The article wasn't ABOUT how crap he thinks we are... like I said, just a passing comment...

Dwayne the pain however...

Its not a reflection of our membership drive, but the fact that we are getting [censored] all people to the ground yet again.

I have to agree with him. "What faithful there are" is in reference to the those of us who turn up week after week, rain, hail and or shine.

No one would ever know that we have 30+ K members.

I wouldn't worry about it. Did you see North's cheer squad a few minutes ago on tv? 6 men, 2 women, 4 flags, a couple of floggers and a thermos.

Nobody sells a paper by putting out a headline that says "Everything is OK". We "faithfull" know the real story and I could care less about the rest.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
