If you think Davey and Austin are good then I have a player who is only 16 and 6 months old that would leave them for dead. I am in the territory in a place called Maningrida out in remote Arnhem Land. We have the second largest football competition in the NT. We have an excellent comp with 8 teams playing a high quality game with fair rules and excellent umpiring. Many people who have see football in the territory thinks our A team would match it with the best of the Tiwi Islanders.

The player I am talking about made the 16 and under NT squad at 14. Played in Sydney and was rated in the top 3 players. He is currently on track to be sent to Rostrevor Collage in Adelaide to play in their State comp and then to port power. It is not to late to snag him.

I am telling you he is brilliant and many years above his age. Born natural and he is the pick of the bunch.

Does Melbourne have any scholarships with schools that might be interested?

No one will be disappointed, investment plus. I just want him at Melbourne.

Sounds great, maybe throw the Club an e-mail, dunno what they would do about it though.

Well, one way to get him to us might be to send him to a good school in NSW and then pick him up via the NSW scholarship scheme but I reckon the authorities might be awake to that. Besides, Melbourne doesn't seem to be interested in recruiting NSW players anyway.

Frankly, the player might end up at the Gold Coast as part of their concessional draft picks when they come into the comp if he's that good.

Apart from being interested in him, unless Port Power can somehow hide him from the rest of the competetion then he will be known by all the other clubs when draft time comes around.

The talent scouts are all over the national junior competetions and if he is good enough, then all the clubs will know about him.

That's my understanding of how the system works anyway.

Always good to hear of new talent coming through. We will continue to see more and more players being drafted from the remote indigenous areas of Australia in the coming years. It is important to realise that the Melbourne Football Club is at the centre of this drive. The flowering of Wonaeamirri as a player and a person speaks volumes of the way the club is assisting these players settle. The article on Liam Jurra recently further highlighted this important role the club has assumed.

Whilst other clubs are searching far and wide (Ireland, Fiji, Africa etc.) for players, the Demons are doing a far more sensible recruitment drive that will see intuitive, gifted players enter the club, who will step all over the athletes and basketballers who seem to be in vogue with recruiters at the moment (nothing against Stef Martin, who will be a champion, or Jack Watts for that matter).

Would be great to see this young talent at the Dees in the future, worth an email to the club Wakadji.

They have to nominate a certain amount of time before the draft but other than that they can just tuck em away in bushleague
