Intraclub Match Day

For those of us who can't be there, is anyone planning on reporting on the intra club, say quarter by quarter with a comprehensive wrap to finish?

I'd like at least 1,000 lucid, coherent insightful words please.

I'm taking my iphone with me so, if I can transmit an the battery holds out, I'll try to provide some descriptions of play.

That would be much appreciated - and I think in your case I can take the lucid, coherent aspect for granted. Cheers

Well, we're in front but only just. MFC Red leading White. Brad Miller (2 goals), Petterd, Bail among the better players. Buckley running through the lines. Jetta kicked a nice goal. And started the second quarter with another.

Well I'm nervous, I Don't know about you guys.

We're still winning but now it's the MFC White team by 8 points. Petterd BOG to date. Martin, Garland, Grimes and Miller doing well. Neville Jetta moves well and Strauss is a good kick. No Jack Watts.

Any sign of Jurrah?

Aussie had a strong quarter and Jamie Bennell came into the game. Shane Valentii and Nathan Jones are getting a lot of the ball. Lynden Dunn looks a bigger unit this year and rookie Trent Zomer is doing OK up forward. Jake Spencer is rucking well.

Rivers looked to hurt a foot or ankle in the first quarter and hasn't been back on.

FFS!!!!

i agree. this is gut wrenching.

where is jack watts??

is jurrah playing?

i agree. this is gut wrenching.

At least its not his groin I guess...

Lets not freak out until we know a little more...

Good to hear Petterd amonst it.

Ricky P.

If Rivers is injured I'm calling the engagement party off, not worth it

good to see valenti cementing his spot hopefully. also good to hear about jones. would love to see an improved version of his 07 form back in action.

btw, what was the crowd like? was there a good turn out?

Good turn out crowd wise.

Not Playing - Robbo, Jurrah, Watts, Wheatley, Davey, Jamar, Blease, McNamara, Maric cant think of any others.

Hard to tell who was who from the new boys and the Casey fill ins.

Wona - Great looks magnificent BOG for mine.

Strauss - Boy can he kick. Really like the look of him.

Bennell - very good.

Jetta - just as good.

Whelan - good.

Garland -ditto.

Meesen - eh !

Morton - got better as the game went on plenty of touches by the end

Pettard - great physique played quite well.

I think it was about 13 goals to 11 with the whites having a win

Bigger crowd then I thought - needed to car park attendants to direct to you free parking spots

thanks mate, all questions answered there!

just a quick one, what about the ruck division? spencer?

Rivers looked to hurt a foot or ankle in the first quarter and hasn't been back on.

It's official, Rivers and football don't go together! :(:(

Think Spencer will give you a contest - dont know about skills though. Big enough to play with the big boys now.

Meesen - god he look good but just doesn't get enough of it nor good at the contest IMO. Did a couple of nice things. Real chance is to turn into a ruckman that runs all day and ends up with 20 touches rather then a dominating big man

Johnson -Serviceable today

Jamar - Didn't play

Got there five minutes in and first contest I saw was the Rivers one. !

I'm just glad Rivers isn't an animal. With his track record, he would have been put down a long time ago.

Someone needs to buy him a bubble to stay inside of.

Well, he did play a whole 5 minutes, which is an achievement in itself

Did you see what actually happened?

I thought that Newton was just as inept as normal. Not hard at it at all and always running to the wrong space

Went up for a spoil in an one on one contest side by side with his opponent and when he landed he just landed awkwardly.

Stopped and held the top of his foot and the tried to run it out for the next minute. Doc wanted him off and he tried to stay out there but did eventually come off.

Never saw him again after that.

Might of played on in a normal game. Lets remember this was a intra club game in Feb !

Lets hope it was more precautionary then anything

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
