Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL community camp

The AFL in partnership with the 16 clubs has staged community camps since 2003. These annual training camps are held in various regions throughout Australia in locations as diverse as Hobart in the south, Darwin in the north and Wollongong in the east to Pilbara in the west.

Each club conducts a four-day training camp and also participates in a range of activities to promote and develop the game and strengthen each community’s connection with the game.

The location of the 2009 AFL community camps will be confirmed soon.

Community camps face the axe

According to GFC CEO, Brian Cook:

"We actually told them that we'd prefer to do our camp in Geelong and on the Surf Coast (if it goes ahead)."

Maybe MFC will do its camp somewhere in Melbourne - maybe in Casey!!

If they have a choice one would hope for it to be in Casey. Build on what they are already working on

Locations for AFL Community Camps announced on afl.com.au this morning:

http://afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/2...px?newsId=71445

Melbourne FC Community Camp for 2009 is at Casey on Feb 6, 9, 11, 13.

As melbman says, building on what they are already working on.

Good choice. :)

That's not a camp, that's just four normal training sessions at Casey Fields!!! Perhaps with a bit of community stuff thrown in - as per the clubs contract with the City of Casey!

I'd have liked to see them go to Wonthaggi, Phillip Island, Leongatha...areas that are within 30-60mins of Cranbourne and promote the club to them.

You're right - they're not sleeping in tents so it's not a camp.

But the benefit I suppose would be measured in how much community stuff is involved - I think the key word in "community camp" is "community" rather than "camp".

When you look at who is going where:

Brisbane to Brisbane

Geelong to Geelong (and the nearby Surf Coast)

Richmond to Craigieburn (location of their planned Casey Fields equivalent)

Essendon doing a day of country visits.

And the Western Bulldogs doing Inverloch.

I think there is so much opportunity and need to build the relationship with the Casey community (so that MFC can develop the stronghold it seeks) that expending effort on areas further afield would be a waste of finite resources. There is so much to be achieved in Casey alone.

They should go to Inverloch, they wear Demon jumpers; or they did in my day.

They still wear the Dee Jumper at Inverloch.

Still, I think if people are in Inverloch, Wonthaggi, or anywhere East of Melbourne its much better to be going to Casey Feilds than Junction Oval.

Info has been published about when it's on (6 to 13 Feb), and today the Members' E-mail advised that the club's Community Camp in the City of Casey will culminate with an Intra-Club practice match on Friday 13 February at Casey Fields (starting time 5 pm).

Hopefully there'll be more info about the community activities to be undertaken during the camp published soon.

Inverloch going over to the Dee jumper coincided with the start of my support for MFC.

I still remember their original strip; green with a red vee.

I've just finished a look thorugh the fire news from today and my head is spinning a little.

Would it be possible to do a mini-community camp later, perhaps during the gap between NAB cup and round 1, in one of these places.

Anything to cheer those communities up and let them know they wont be ingnored, and hopefully mobilise a bit of extra practical support in the form of donations. Maybe we can even get a small contingent of people up there to help with the clean-up. Horrible thing to have to do alone, coming back to a burnt-out property and shovelling the ruins into a hopper.

I reckon I'd be up for making the trip, if there was some kind of central organisation getting together temporary accomodation (i.e. City of Casey and MFC).

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
