Player Contracts

I thought it would be a good idea to make a list of when our players are contracted till. It always comes up in posts, and it would end a lot of speculation about the delisting of a lot of our players.

I think it would be a good idea to have this stickied, so it\'s easy to refer to and we can keep track of it.

These are the players I\'m sure of. Please only post if you\'re sure of a player\'s contract status. I\'ll edit this post and update it with any additions to this list.

Great idea. Must be verifiable somehow. Praps the club could help. No privacy issue I would have thought as length of contract is usually public info.

i agree, no talk about figures or anything of the sort... just the length of the contract, which is usually announced by the club, that's it...

Very Interesting, will be great to keep tabs on info regarding contracts over the next 2 months. Good Work.

N/A - Wonaeamirri and Valenti can be placed on the list or be kept as rookies for another year.

Hoping Green re-signs soon.

It would seem that we cant match his demands though. He could be prominent in trade week.

Can't match his demands? What demands are those?

At a guess, $1.2/1.4 over 3 years.

We got burnt with deals for Yze and White so maybe it is length that is taking a while to sort out. Green has been good this year but is he good enough to warrant $400 - 450k?

For 3 years? He'll get two years I reckon. $750,000 for 2 years.

$400K+ per year is way too much for a player like Green.

I hope Buckley is contracted for '09 and beyond.

Any update on this?

green wants 3 years but the club only offered him two.

MELBOURNE is edging closer to reaching a new agreement with Brad Green.

Green was keen for a three-year deal, but the Demons originally offered him only two.

"We are not far away," Demons football manager Chris Connolly said.

Re-signing Brent Moloney is also a priority.

Nice revival. Worth noting the Dees originally offered two, as I thought would be the outcome.

i've updated the list... still a few players we're unsure of, but we can work on that over time... a lot should come out of the wash in the next few weeks...

The only player I think we're unsure of at this point in time is Chris Johnson. I believe all others are contracted or delisted.

Rumours abound that CJ will not re-sign and that he will find a new home at Carlton where he will join another CJ as the (inter alia) environmental astrology officer for Visy. He will literally pay for peanuts.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
