I could not believe this

Rivers = One of the best 4 possession games you'll ever see.

You can add 10 1%ers to that too. It was almost always his fist doing the punching.

Amen.

A more important defender you will not find in our team.

Consistently does the team things, risks his own well- being to punch the ball or provide a contest. How was his blind backwards punch on the goal square?

He is a godsent and if he ever leaves us I'm jumping off the West Gate.

im pretty sure i read a stat somwhere that freo had 54 possesions the whole last qrt.... which is not even 3 touches per player on their team.

some other interestng stats for melb...

Robbo = 3 goal assists

moloney and mcdonald = 5 centre cleareances

Bate and mcdonlad = 6 clangers

Mcdonald and bruce =9 contested possesions

Amen.

I agree. I can see other clubs closer to a premiership trying to poach him from us. He keeps our backline together and makes Warnock, Bell, Garland, Carroll and co. look better at the same time

I was surprised that Rivers only got 4 disposals because I thought he a good game his spoiling was superb. Warnock was great I don't think Tarrant touched it in the second half. I'm not convinced about Frawley yet but I would still play him. I was impressed with Garland I think he is starting to find his feet at this level. Carroll got a spray at quarter time, didn't touch it after half time and Pavlich kicked 5. Finally I think my prayers will be answered and Bailey will finally drop him.

With Jones if I was a Freo supporter I would be ripping into Harvey as much as I have ripped into Bailey over the last 6 weeks for keeping Crowley on Jones. McLean is very good player who if you let loose more often than not he will tear you apart. Jones is a Barry Battler nothing more I don't think any team in the AFL will tag Jones again.

The thing that I can't believe was Miller's game. He has had some good games leading on the wing but he done it all against Freo he actually looked like he could play the game a very unlike Miller performance hopefully he has turned the corner but I wouldn't hold my breath.

QFT. Their defensive pressure in the second half was fantastic, and I put a lot of that onto Rivers, Bell, Frawley and a lesser extent, Carroll, who didn't let a dominate 1st half by Pavlova let him down.

Don't forget Warnock. A few time both him and Rivers hit packs deep in defense to kill the ball over the line. Garland's performance on a small leading forward was also impressive, don't know how many times these type of players have carved us up. Once the coaching staff got the match up right we actually had a well balanced backline.

Interesting observations :wacko:

Jared Rivers...Seven 1%

Welcome to Demonland

Rivers actually averages 7 1%s a match.

He is currently 6th in the league for average 1%s.

:wub::wub::wub:

shows who stands up at a the worst of times

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

    Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

    We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

    The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there.When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

    The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
