Next time a player has a free kick or a mark after the siren the opposition should just run away with the ball. In fact, they should refuse to give it back (and grab all the other balls while they are at it) preventing the player from taking the kick indefinitely because “time” doesn’t exist anymore.

By not punishing the act but rather the outcome the AFL / MRO have made it clear that punching and striking is fine so long as you don’t hurt anyone too badly when doing so.

That should have been a 50 metre penalty every day of the week.

When we were rubbish there was always talk of our better players leaving to go find success and now we are good (great) there is talk of players leaving to just get regular games. I really want Weideman to be better, his chance was the decline of McDonald but he’s now a lock again after being dropped. Only injuries to key forwards or our rucks will see him likely to get a game which is a shame because when he clicks (that strong mark and goal late in the Essendon game) he looks unstoppable.

Exactly, this was us 10 years ago. The media can smell blood and they are going for the jugular.
