I’m amazed he was ever drafted let alone went pick one.

Viney was best on ground. However, much like our 2018 side his best is when he is full on, throw himself into every contest which is amazing but not easy to sustain for a whole season. He, like the team as whole need to improve skills and composure so we aren’t just soley relying on brute force and effort to win games.

I couldn’t get my head around the fact that all our kick-ins went to the same side while the other side of the ground was open for players to run into. Bizarre coaching decision.

Certainty to be dropped.

He can mark, he's quick, would provide another option for our midfield and would free up Fritsch, Weideman and all the other forwards immensely.

O. McDonald was very good, just about his best game. But don't give up on Smith, he should be played forward.

Who would have thought choosing a better balanced team (although it could still have been better) would lead to an improved result? Goodwin really is a genius. In all seriousness, that was more like the way we played in 2018; not good composure and a lot more chaos but eventually weight of numbers prevailed. Is this a long-term winning strategy? No, but it's better than losing, especially when we are likely to gift the number one pick to North Melbourne.

Marking options up forward would help a lot. At least we are finally playing Weideman this week, even though his marking is poor he’s at least big and provides a target. This is why I am so adamant that Joel Smith should be forward because he provides a target and is dynamic. A forward line of T. McDonald, Smith, Weideman and Fritsch as the medium to tall forwards would at the very least provide our midfield with a variety of targets forward. But alas, it’s the most obvious changes that Goodwin doesn’t see.

Listen to the Demonland podcast where Peter Jackson was asked about Pert coming in. His response was damning and I miss Jackson a lot.

The team looks better but would have been even better if Joel Smith was forward instead of Melksham. Jones should be in the team as well.

As was the case with 2019, clearly injuries and players not getting a full pre-season is to blame. We are just so unlucky.

I’m shocked, did not see this coming at all.

No, things won’t go back to the way they were because the way coaches coach, the fitness of players and defensive mindset that has taken over the game won’t change. You could not be more wrong.

Because it’s the only way to fix congestion which is the biggest issue in the game.

I’d love to see zones trialled. I know it goes against a lot of what the game is about but it’s the only way to remove all the congestion.
