    What kind of things?

It was along the lines of, 'well Simon, some of the more over emotive types on Demonland would like you to be a little bit more animated in the box, coz the broadcasters need vision of you going ape****, to give those boring as bat****  commentators and media hacks something to talk about, ok?'

That’s just rubbish and clearly not correct.  There has been a clear change in personnel, structure and game style over the last 3 weeks.  I can also tell you that in a very positive exchange recently between Goodwin & some senior players, the Coach was asked to be “a little harder on the same players making the same mistakes repeatedly”.

Which contradicts the vision last week where Goodwin said 'I won't be sending messages out 're execution'

    No i don’t name sources

That is not cool, my info was off the record. It’s not my opinion, i was told information. You can choose to deny it.

Not denying it, just asking you to back up a claim you made

Are you in contact with those in the Manly Hub or Bartlett or Pert, coz he would only listen to either Richo or those 2, if in fact he has been told at all

Coz if you are not in contact with those 3, you are getting it second hand

Whereas when Chaplin was asked the question, he answered directly to those online

You can prefer whatever you like

    You drink Schooners...

Your opinion, I have been told the opposite

And heard it repeated by a coach recently

    Care to name your source?

Mine was Troy Chaplin, in an online briefing for members

Things were said. He has taken notice

You really think he pays any attention to noise

I asked other coaches about his demeanour in the box, answer if he is too busy melting, he is not coaching

You will get the occasional annoyance, but straight back to business

He is not the type and I prefer the way he is, trying to teach the players to stay calm and collected, not a good example if he is going off in the box

Interesting how much confidence affects the ability to hit targets

Players are running fwd off the ball making targets. Tackling ferociously. Pressure is immense.

Completely shut the hawks game down.

Something has clicked. When we play like this you question where it has been for 18mnths

    Let's finish this off dees

Continuity in the 22 on the field

Can always rely on you for a negative comment even when we are playing so well

Not me noting the mistakes and posting them, I liked what I saw in 2nd quarter, hope for more off the same in 3rd, if we make a mistake, we are scrambling to fix it

  8. Nice to see, even after a good quarter, we have supporters watching the game  for mistakes only and noting them down

The main aim seems to be get it forward any way, trap it in, expect some scrubby kicks and handball, but follow up has been excellent

  9. Wow 5 pages and still just under 3 hours to go

If we turn up and play slightly better than last week for 4 qtrs, we may win

If we play like we did against Richmond, we lose

Not worried, pessimistic, optimistic, don't gamble

    May just watch the game

Sadly also sums up our recruitment strategy. For the last 7 years.

Absolutely hilarious, agreeing with opposition supporters  personally don't give a flying [censored] what Hawks supporters think

Our midfield was selected to grow and mature together, unfortunately injuries such as Viney's foot, Brayshaw's concussion, Trac's knee have got in the way

Last week started to look like they are all on same page, finally, we just need the consistency now, which comes from playing games together

Saty and his scooter are stuck in Echuca.

Where's Echuca, anything outside of Inner Melbourne, I'm lost

Been told some watched them train at Manly, but were kept at a distance

Assume Gold Coast will be the same

I noticed they went indoors for 'craft' this week, assume to practice some set ups away from eyes

Goody used to take them to a private school oval or the like for these type of sessions, when we used to have footy in Melb, if anyone can remember that

    And we'll never get there.
Racism is rife the world over.
Only the naive think they'll end racism by pontificating on social media.

So you don't want racism to be eradicated

Your suggestion that it is 'pontificating seems to suggest that

There are more ways and channels to 'educated

But then again you can only do that to those who want to be 'educated

I personally don't condone racism against anybody, but it is a convenience for racists to play the victim card, a la Trump

I don't give a stuff about what your paternal common knowledge is. One tackle a game is not a performance game. it does not score or win games, If he was better at it he would have a much more solid place in the team anyway. That has never happened. He only got a game because of his endurance but it does not mean he was able to use it to best advantage. His disposal sucks. The reality was that he was better at running than most of the list. It does not mean he was good at it. I suspect he would have had a much shorter career at any other club. It is pretty lame, to try and make a point about a typo, get a life.

A couple of stats to help you a bit

ANB tackles per game career average 4.05

Tackles in 2018 when we made the prelim 118

Averages 5 contested possession a game, which is on par with Mitch Hannan and Jake Melksham

At the moment other players are preferred for his role,

Upto him to get back in the team

When was ANB a leader of pressure acts? What does it even mean? Did we win those games with his pressure acts? One soft tackle a game is nothing to boast about and as I said the only other team he would get a run in is more of a basket case than us. No trade value = not much to offer. Who would you drop for him out of a winning side? The only reason to play ABN is no other choice, he is only depth.

If you must try and debate, please check your facts, it is common knowledge , even on here, the reason he kept his place in the team was  due to his 2 way running and pressure acts

If you don't know how important pressure acts are in modern footy, I suggest you do a bit of research

It was at least a tackle a game

At the moment we have gone with a couple of different looks in the fwds

I also didn't say anything about dropping anybody, I said he will have to earn his spot back

His name is also Alex Neal Bullen

    Not Australian Business Number

I personally want no change to try and get a bit of consistency, but maybe Jones has done enough to force a change

  15. 32 minutes ago, Mental Demons said:

ANB has never done that in the past who would you drop out of a winning team to give ANB another go at it? ANB is a running linkman who is a soft tackler and has poor disposal. Most of all, he is not a good reader of the play and is often not where he should be.

ANB was the leader in the team for pressure acts, to be able to do this, you need to be able to read the play. Note he was also doing at least 1 tackle a game, so not soft

The one good thing at the moment is that we have a full healthy list to pick from

Up to ANB, like Weideman, Hibberd and Jetta before him, to get back into the team

  16. @binman won't quote your whole post, agree totally re Goodes

If Australia needed reminding that it still had a long way to go, the treatment of Goodes was that reminder, unfortunately as it falls off the front pages, it is soon forgotten

That is why the calling out of racism is so important, we can bring it to the front again

And try and keep it at the front

Whoever wrote this needs to see a psychiatrist.

The only racism I ever see on social media is anti -white racism.  In fact, it is rampant.   And the media conveniently ignores it.

You actually select what you want to see on social media, so if this is what you are seeing, it's your choice

Quite a list. Disgraceful, to say the least.

On the positive side, though Indigenous people won the right to vote in 1967, where I live the last slave market closed in 1968. As bad as the Australian list of abuses is, it isn't worse than other civilizations, and it is better in one extremely important respect: There is a list.

That is to say, while the rest of the world pretends that such abuses as those above existed only in the West, and while almost nobody knows the history of something as significant as slavery --

Australians are acknowledging that abuses have happened and are grappling with racism. No need to beat each other up about a past that can't be changed. Deal with it and make the future better. That's kind of a football way of handling things...

Unfortunately you are still not getting it

Indigenous people didn't win the right to vote, they should have had it in the first place, so it is not a positive

Deaths in custody are still happening, it is not the past

Racism is also not exclusively about the Indigenous of Australia, it is about Asians being harassed over COVID19, unfortunately led by the CinC Trump, which in his case is Clown in Chief,

Racial profiling of Africans, I had to step in at JB Hifi as the security guy waved a line of customers through but stopped 2 'African' kids for a bag check , I accused him of racial profiling, they had been in exactly the same area of store as me and had done nothing untoward, all 3 of us were quickly ushered out of the store

I could go on but won't

You are not in any way related to Nev or have any family link directed to his family, blood or extended. You're a fan supporter and that's it.

To think you have some idea what Nev and his family go through when they've copped copped racism throughout his career is just simply wrong.

As a pacific islander who moved to this country as an 8 year and someone who copped a bit of racism in high school, I still don't fully understand what our proud indigenous Australians feel when they are exposed to this kind of rubbish. I've played footy with many great indigenous brothers who's family have been part of the stolen generation (Jetta's family also) which to this day still effects them significantly. None of us will never fully understand that.

I hope Harley and his family okay and I'm proud of my football club for getting straight on the front foot.

Unfortunately on this occasion you are sadly wrong and to use this topic as a way of again trying to demean me says more about you than me

During the past ten years, after training, functions, online etc I have had many a discussion with Nev about racism, also discussed the issue with Nev Snr and Lynette, Matty Whelan and Indigenous acquaintances and work colleagues

This was on my part to gain a greater understanding of the issues faced by not only Indigenous players, but the greater indigenous community and the impact it has

So I could offer my support in whatever way I could, which included attending the March a few weeks back

The Noongar word I have on my jumper is chosen by Nev, not me, to reflect what he wants me to represent, last season was Family, this year is Knowledge

You also don't have to be Indigenous to experience racism, as you have found yourself and I have witnessed first hand and experienced both here and overseas

Unfortunately Australia likes  to think that there is no racism, which is wrong

Absolute bollocks Saty. Nev was horrible. He had one kick for the game and five possessions. Two of which were contested. His opponent had six shots at goal for three goals (game high) and another couple of goal assists. Sure a couple of Rankine's goals were freakish but the one he read off Gawn's tap Nev was slow to react and chase.

Saty we know you have an unhealthy obsession with Nev. Maybe he smiled to you at trainin?. But he's done. To let a first gamer have eight score involvements as a lockdown defender and only have one kick for a game yourself means you are in massive trouble come selection time.

Read my post, he wasn't Nev's direct opponent on some occasions

Don't have an unhealthy obsession, we have mutual respect, something I find hard to have with some of the posts 're Nev in this topic

The tap was to Langdon who was goal side of Rankine, he was flat footed, could have grabbed Rankine

Don't your dare equate the unacceptable and abhorrent racial abuse leveled at indigenous people & people of colour to the names that you have been called. Many times you have baited posters on here and you have been given a lot more protection than others.

I have discussed this with you privately and yet you continually take a swipes at me and the mods.

Please don't let this thread get derailed by inserting yourself into a serious issue which has nothing to do with you.

Demonland.com strongly condemns racism in all its forms.

Comments like the one on the AFL's Twitter would have been dealt with promptly and the poster immediately banned.

I am not inserting myself, the point I am making is unless there are serious consequences to perpetrators of hate , in any form, racism being one of the more prominent, the behaviour will continue unabated

This issue has a lot to do with me, not only do I have family, friends and acquaintances who have been racially vilified hence my abhorrence,I it has also been aimed at Nev more than once in the ten  years I have proudly worn his number on my back

So please don't lecture me on  how important it is to stamp out racism
