A good summary DS. If T-Mac is out next week (who knows at this point but if he is) i'd be bringing Brown in as his replacement.
I'd go for Jones ahead of Melksham if his body is up to it as well. If Jones is still NQR maybe Bedford ahead of Melk and give him a trial run for a week or two and see where he's at.
Bedford is one of the 12 in Melbourne

The 2 big blokes did their job, Bennell showed promise but also was clearly lacking in areas. Jetta was ordinary, your first thought was correct.
Watch the replay of Rankine's goals
Harmes, side stepped for first goal, don't even think Nev was on the ground, Hibberd was his man even though Rankine dropped it and kicked off the ground for second, Langdon stood flat footed and allowed Rankine to shark the tap, Nev was in correct spot for tap set up, Rankine read it

I was disappointed in Lyon tonight, he commentated like he was hoping the Dees would lose

Langdon stood flat footed and let Rankine shark the tap
Hibberd was on him when he did the soccer goal
Rankine side stepped Harmes for his first goal
Nev made one error on Rankine
Please watch the game before writing off Nev
The only disappointment for me tonight was Garry Lyon commentating like he wanted the Dees to lose

I don't disagree with your opinion (although to call Jenkins no action is strange for a player that has kicked over 60 goals in a season) but surprised you have voiced a strong one. If he was a Melbourne player (like Tomlinson) would you have said that?
Jenkins was great for the Joe the Goose, out the back goal, when Tex, Eddue, Lynch were up and firing, he looked great, when it was demanded of him to be a different type of player, it showed his true worth
Nah, just don't denigrate, was [censored] when Nev was dropped, same with Hibberd, but both needed to find a bit of form
Tomlinson exactly the same, his form has dropped, noticeable in his ability to get back and defend
Anyway back to Wright, still think the answer is no

Too late. We got Preuss.
Peter Wright should have been trade pickup instead of Preuss two years ago.
Should have been Tyson for Wright. Suns would’ve done deal. Wright could’ve been key forward option (Gawn in ruck) or be safety measure for Gawn. And if Tyson didn't want to go to the Gold Coast, in hindsight he may have changed his mind
Wright is not even a choice at Gold Coast which would inevitably lead, if we got him now, to a topic on here 'why do we always trade other clubs rejects'
He reminds me of Josh Jenkins, all height and no action

Connection though Saty relies on one player kicking the ball to another player who is able to catch it. I don't think 5-10 handballs until somebody is tackled and we turn it over counts.
Correct, but it is an area we can work on, everybody at the Club recognises this, Chaplin quote 'we are beating ourselves at the moment' unquote
As I have stated before players can be coached and coached but you can't coach skill errors, poor decisions or a falling down of fundamentals
The coaches must be as frustrated as everybody else, you pick players who are supposedly fit and in form, what you are looking for is consistency and cohesion in both individual players and team performance
What's the answer if it is the same players making the same basic skill errors or not carrying out the fundamentals, one answer of course it is to drop them from the team and bring in new players, meaning you have to start again with the consistency and cohesion
Do you stick with the same players and hope they turn the corner?
Do you look at changing the game plan after the whole squad has been training it for months
It is all so easy for any person who is not directly involved in an AFL team to analyse and say in my opinion this is the answer
You don't see too many taking up the challenge, as have we seen from the vitriol displayed on this forum, being an AFL coach is a thankless task

Take out that 1 quarter against Carlton and we are averaging a pifling 11 points a qtr.
11 POINTS!
We are actually averaging just over 12.5 points per qtr, 201 points for divided by 16
8 teams are averaging 15pts or less a quarter after 5 games
With another 5 averaging around 16pts
It's the state of the game
If we can actually get the connection right, we are less than a goal a qtr behind 13 other teams

I agree with most of this Saty. But it's okay to express your disappointment with seasons' past. Just try it. I did a top five.
I have to be careful, only negative views of the Dees seem to pass the mods muster these days
It is pointless exercise in my opinion to wallow in the past, I moved on to the Suns
I participated in something with the Club the day after we were smashed by 140 odd points by the Bombers a few years ago
Now that was an interesting day in the past
Another interesting fact post that game, surprisingly nobody died

Hey Saty. I ordinarily let your odd ego-driven self-designated club-mascot baiting slide. But what about this topic do you think is set up as an additional reason to whinge and whine about the present? It's a forum to express our personal disappointment as MFC supporters over the years. Legitimate feelings. Tell us yours. It may be liberating. Have you ever felt sad or disappointed about our football team the Dees?
Yeah particularly 1905, I mean bottom again tsk tsk
It is a forum to discuss footy, which has been hijacked by a small minority of perpetual whinegers and whiners, we've played 3 games, repeat 3, lost to West Coast under strange circumstances, beat Carlton, if Tomlinson had kicked straighter we may have beaten Geelong
And unfortunately had too many players have an off day against Richmond
Interestingly some of the poorer performers were players clamoured for on here in Rivers, can be excused, Pickett, can be excused, Lockhart, 2 games in a row and the midfield went handball happy
I was disappointed with the performance, but move onto the next one
-
Let's start another topic, so we can whinge and whine
How can you go.past 1905, I mean phew!
Just bombing into the forward lins
-
Was disappointed with how we played today, but wouldn't dream of walking away from MY TEAM, but then again I've just checked and my Kahunas are still there

Goodwin does not demand excellence, his teaching methods are not good enough. I am sure he wants the best, but he is not capable of achieving it
We need an experienced Coach. ( We needed to have Roos for way longer than 3 years) This Club has been down too long
Of course he demands excellence, see his press conference, he is as [censored] off as the rest of us
The execution and skills on display today were appalling, what's the the answer, keep changing the team?
The players need to take responsibility, they train the skills week in week out, they need to use it them consistently week in week out
Not sure which bit some on here don't get, you can't coach skill errors

The Coach has to demand better skills
That’s what makes a good Coach
Goodwin has had 4 years
His Presser today will be the same as last year.
Simon is a nice guy....
We need far more than that
Of course he demands better skills
We are also looking for consistency
Drop the players with poor skills
Keep changing the team, where is the consistency
On field leadership has gone backwards this year, interesting that Jones and Jetta are not there, form permitting of course
It's always easy to blame the coaching staff when it is ultimately the players out there playing

The coach is fine - Saty knows!!
The coach coaches then during the week, he sends them out at the weekend and watches them make appalling skill errors and decisions for AFL Standard players, knowing it will reflect on him, as it always does, rather than the the players who have practiced and practiced, but still make the same appalling errors

This club just continues to bring misery to its members ... we continue to go backwards! Clearly Goodwin has a game plan which isn’t working & hate to say but we will witness another wasted list of players & another decade of nothingness!
Why is it Goodwin's fault when every player bar m maybe Hibberd made a fundamental still error that sometimes resulted in a goal to the opposition

Ultimately? Yes.
His game plan allows super quick kicks to come into our defence.
He picked Smith when he clearly isn't ready.
No, it was combination of errors forward of The ball, all good to blame the coach when Oliver gives a terrible ball

So that goal from Lynch was Goodwin's fault, right?

[censored] off our coach is [censored] can't come up with a decent game style, can't develop talent, can't develop skills, can't develop leadership. EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH GOODWIN!
And Daniher, and Bailey and Neeld and Roos, it is like a broken record on here
The players need to be made accountable

Racial Vilification of Harley Bennell

Chook, while there is no place for racism, which I abhor, already sent a message of support.
Your question could be answered on here where I have been called in the last week, idiot, pig and delusional
I myself got dragged into it unfortunately through frustration at the lack of action by the mods
Social media and forums like this provide people the opportunity unrestrained to put what they like, behind a cloak of anonymity.
Until there are real consequences it will continue
Somebody in a thread called for supporter insurrection, may be the incorrect use of a word, but if somebody took it as verbatim
