And I thought the Adelaide coach came in and got rid of every single player that Craig had spent the previous few years developing, that's why they suddenly became successful
-
RobbieF, every club clunks draft choices, it is just ours have been highlighted by most journos, Brisbane being a prime example, tried the 'moneyball' approach as well, but because in Qld they "get away with it', even Gold Coast and GWS who had an open field, all have not worked, especially the mature recruits, who have been a bit hit and miss And one offs.....Richard Tambling at Richmond, Adelaide grabbed him as well, starring at the moment isn't he, Courtney Johns, a pet project of Sheedy at Essendon, even he gets it wrong etc etc etc

Wondering how you can give the MFC a boost up?
Satyriconhome replied to Nineteen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hello, Nineteen is working on this, he is just trying to drum up interest, I suggested to the Club to try the syndicate approach, still think we will get single customers, but if 10 people kick in 20, if you win it is 4000 so not a bad return......Dudleys raffle is the 'cheaper' one on game day....trying to convince 10 where I work, got three at the moment -
Justin Westoff wouldn't be saying that if Mathew Primus hadn't perservered with him when supporters etc were baying for his blood, hindsight ah a wonderful thing
-
I'll tell you what, support the Club is what I do, not deluded just not jaded Why do you think I am deluded (Caroline Wilson's favourite word, iit is you Rangey isn't it), coz I don't agree with you, quite a few of us delusiional then. I understand the issues at the Club, the real issues, because I get to see/listen/hear etc on a regular basis, nobody sugar coats it for me, but hey I could throw my toys out of the cot like some do, I just don't choose to I'll refrain from that when the so called supporters stop bagging everything about the Club I don't say don't go, I just don't understand how people who obviously hate something with such a passion still put themselves through it, it smacks of latent masochism

Just to answer your concerns above, had a couple of conversations with the KIwi international rookie, don't want to have an attempt at his name, always get it wrong, he is not a member of the current list but he has been sat down and told 'exactly' what he has to do, (and as noted once before he got an earful from Chris Dawes for not finishing off a trg drill properly).....he is actually really enjoying it, he is in the middle of a full time six week block at the Club, and everybody coaches and players are offering every bit of help/guidance/rules/education they can......and one other point about training methods.........saw him when he first arrived at the Club, kicked like a Kwi, watched him the other day doing kick to kick with one of the Coaches, over about 20-30 metres, the Coach hardly moved to catch the ball I hate bloody rumours, they take a life of their own

My suggestion for the one topic one post was because it is a necessary evil on this board, rather than each topic being hijacked. as I have said previously, even this thread has had a few attempts to hijack it, I would rather it was over quickly than last the whole week from one game to the next, sadly I can't stop the venters venting, I just stop reading their posts.....so you are doing what I think the modern journalist does and you have misrepresented me Journalists these days, and this is my opinion, are only interested in how much they can increase or maintain the circulation or how much internet revenue they can generate, and bad news works so much better than good, like I said in a previous post that is why reality tv is still a hit, people love watching a 'kill' contrived or not, sad but true My actions on this board are repeat to try and give another opinion to counter the posters whose soul aim in their posts is to bash the Club, if you don't like what I write, quite simple don't read it
-
Gee for a minute there I thought Rangey was back.....sympathy is even worse than stick, tell em to shove it.......the membership is still ticking over by the way, I know I was there last night, there was always a difference between member numbers and who turns up for the game........an example - guy last night from the country, his sons play footy weekends so he can only get to a game or two if he is lucky, still renewed to add to membership numbers though......the report of the demise of the Club is exaggerated by a few......... similar sentiment to Don McLardy, he is as sick of the negativity as I am, supporters support the Club no matter what............if you were sharp in your thinking similarly you would have realized that Malthouse remark was facetious....but never mind, next time......Rangey never got the hang of it either....thank you for the frank assessment of my character I will take it on board NOT

MH my old thing, you seem to be one of the few beaten down, I'm not, sorry must be in denial. Don't quite understand this one, I don't get annoyed, just don't understand if the footy makes people so miserable why they put themselves through it Laughing stock, that is my point, can't you handle a bit of stick from people, bit sad, I'm only tiny but people give me wide berth on the footy coz they know I fight back, I take [censored] from nobody, hopefully it the plan we are putting in place works (like everybody hopes it will) neither will the team going forward Winning is everything.........sigh......vicarious triumphalism.... ,

I am not telling people what they can and can't talk about, I am merely expressing my opinion that it is a complete and utter waste of time, and opens the door for MFC bashing, that's all I have put on this thread, my opinion, if people read it fine, if they don't fine, dont't really care either way.......only things I care about at the moment re footy are two.........hoping we have a win on Sunday and hoping we get out of this funk we are in. I tend to post mainly to engage the more combative keyboard warriors and the posters who post "we are crap" and nothing else, in the hope that the lazy journalists who use this site for story ideas get a balanced view, not that they will present a balanced view, but that is my jaundiced view of modern 'journalism/editorialising' surfacing

I didn't say you bashed but other posters relish the opportunity, we even have one who doesn't rate Evans after 6 games and a serious back injury, if it wasn't so laughable it would be pathetic Again back to Carazzo, how do you know the Club isn't in the process of developing another shut down player......because of the MFC supporters mantra "I want it and I want it now".....you think we need a ready made What I am trying to point out, is we have lots of posters on here bemoaning that "we are a laughing stock", so what do we do, we start a thread purportedly drafting a wishlist of players who we would like to come to the club........but this is tempered by posters saying "why would they want to come to us":, "we are a rabble", "we have no midfield". I don't rate players a, b, c, d.......so therefore we must be a laughing stock as it seems so called supporters think the Club and the players are rubbish.....bit of a self inflicted wound wouldn't you say I am constantly being put down on here for defending the players, I don't defend, but at present we have 44 players on our list, if they play badly I am as disappointed as the next bloke, but the following week they get a chance to redeem themselves.....I don't believe bashing them achieves anything apart from giving some of the keyboard heroes a feeling of superiority and a chance to deflect their own inadequacies. The Footy Dept makes the decisions and as you know they live and die by them, so if some players are cut at the end of the season that is their decision, what we think makes no difference whatsoever I always thought Matt Bate was a good player, just couldn't quite get it right, but played 100 games, he was cut, I was disappointed, didn't like the decision, tweeted Matt good luck and moved on, he is not part of the 44 this year so I have no interest, apart from 2 hrs this weekend when he opposes Casey playing for Essendon's VFL side I am not saying that every thread has to be super positive, it never will be with some of the miserable sods we have posting on here, but a bit less self flagellation would be nice
-
As for Carazzo, your comment....great shutdown guy, but sprays the ball....we have one of those supposedly in Jordie McKenzie, assume you don't rate him and want to replace him? It is another pointless thread that just opens the door for a few posters to bash the players we have now, gee envy is a strong emotion
-
I was going to say the same thing. Four pages of pipedreaming, it doesn't really matter if we do pick somebody of quality, we will only stuff them up, isn't that right? Have we still got 18 games for the midfield to gain experience and improve, obviously not, the season is already over My classic piece of humour for this morning "hopefully Gawn and Spencer will come on".....sigh...... we are a jaundiced group aren't we
-
This thread like many many many others degenerates into personal bickering and points scoring whether we have a win or not, it is a public board, you have to expect that As for the post about being pitied Conversation Monday morning in work after 145 point loss Carlton Support "Mate, what about Melbourne?" Me "we were terrible, now [censored] off" I did not get disturbed for the rest of the week
-
Because, basically, if you read the so called positive posters, we all know where we are at the moment....I watch the game live and then I watch it on replay......but but then some other posters on here go on and on and on and on and on.....always the same thing...sack him, change this, turn that, revolve this, we're crap they're crap....what is the point.......be cynical, be angry, be frustrated.... .let's make an agreement 1 thread each Monday....1 vent per poster.....end...... All this going backwards rubbish.....some posters haven't liked anything the club has done since 1964...... .there is even a thread about getting Rodney Eade....I mean for crying out loud....great success at the Bulldogs and all that.....this is what pisses me off......... They did discuss it with me, it is not brain surgery it is exactly the same strategy as the rest of the footy clubs, recruit the right players, train them the right way, teach them to play the right way etc etc.......as I said before it is just footy....what sort of strategy do you want, we are not planning on taking Stalingrad in the winter
-
I say chap think you may have the figures the wrong way around on membership, haven't got the raw data available so I generalised, how terrible of me, you seem to have a grasp so I'll take your word for it, I was probably misinformed or I misinformed myself, but man enough to admit I may be wong sorry wrong So I am only a volunteer who works the phones, so nice of you to pigeonhole me, how do you know that's all I do The club doesn't expect to lose money this season, what they did say was there may be a problem, what if they attract another sponsor. Also I didn't say the new Board Member will turn the club around I said he may be able to assist with his business acumen, if you must quote, quote correctly What's wrong, you don't like positivity, what the sun does not come up over your house when we lose Substance, I keep coming up with substance and the Hole in the Head gang just shits on it, there is a group on this board that seems to wallow in failure, which I find very sad Do you want a go at the strategy, I must say my articulation was facetious, probably most posters saw that What are the difficult issues, apart from grown me frollicking together in a sauna (possibly naked)
-
Correct....ah the light goes on.....we last played finals 7 years ago.....since then we dropped the ball......now we are trying after a false start to build again, so once again we can play finals, but wait, let's be like other clubs and just keeping sacking the coach and everybody associated with him until we get it right......hello Carlton.........or let's grit our teeth and try the Geelong method....you never know it might work.... Just a point, and yes I love what the Swans have done, but how long from the relocation to Sydney did it take for them to achieve the ultimate sucess?......but they built it to last I will lose faith when the Board/CEO decide it is not going to work and sack the Coaching staff
-
You asked me to ariculate the strategy which I did, the implementation will be exactly the same as every other club, if given the time to do it You've not gone 50 years wow The membership grew last year, assume it will be roughly the same this year, (bit nearer the coalface to know this) Acutally know the guy's record, most of which is in the Public Domain if you care to read it, probably not, just [censored] on it We were competitive for a half and ding ding, 30000+ members have re signed, so it may be the one thing for a small majority on here to be winning and nothing else matters How do you know the finances are worse, do you do the books?, You support the Club, but now you are only interested in 2 hours each weekend so cool, so from now on don't criticize us that have a bit more interest than that By the way North are zip and 3
-
The strategy put into simple terms, not necessarily for your benefit, is to develop a group of players, who are both physically and mentally capable of performing at a consistently high standard throughout the season, leading to winning sufficient games to particpate in a finals campaign and ultimately the big one, the premiership cup. At the same time, developing a culture throughout the whole Club to ensure that the above once attained becomes the norm rather than the exception and the success and excellence is sustained over a lengthy period Think that about covers it......can't wait for your thoughts
-
Ah good afternoon, how are Fozzie and Kermit, here you go again, "club is a shambles"....why? go on or do you want me to do the list....the membership is still growing, may keep the finances going, we are getting a new Board Member who should help...so what else is there.....yes wasn't pretty on Saturday, but hey we get another go this weekend, believe in the strategy the Footy Dept is implementing so haven't go any reason to put forward alternatives The recruiting we did still needs a bit of work, but Kent, Barry, Clisby, Hogan etc all took another step fwd at the weekend, and Matt Jones and Terlich look ok............now if we could just stop those bastard players from relaxing every now and again we will be fine
