As I have explained before but I'll do it again, every player on an AFL list, in my opinion, has the potential to be an AFL standard player, some to a higher standard than others, there are others that show potential but peeter out, injury cruells some, poor development can also stymie.......for the last few years MFC has seen all these examples. I just don't feel the need for the constant comparison between players both in the same team and in the opposition, coz last time I looked it required 22 of them playing as a team for 4 quarters to a really good standard, to give a chance for a win, sure you need a few of the higher standard players, but you also need the role players who work their arses off as well, I place Matt Jones in this category I go along and as long as each player has a crack, I come away satisfied, I have never seen a player in all my 39 years of watching footy that hasn't ducked his head once, shirked a contest coz they were knackered, misplaced a kick or handball, missed an easy shot or tackle etc etc................(some of the old 'heroes' now commentating who keep bemoaning skills better make sure there are no skeletons lurking in the video closet)

No, I just don't write anybody on or off, those that do, normally end up eating humble pie, not my favourite taste, I support the 22 that go on the field each week, Matt Jones played well on Saturday, will it keep him in the team this week, who knows?

And if those players don't? M Jones is highly rated by all the coaches, for his work ethic and willingness to carry out his role, hence why he was brought straight back after a quick tune up in the VFL after injury

I was actually talking about extreme physical exertion in those conditions, mine was a few years ago, but we knew how to recover, and also look after ourselves during the physical activity, the science has come on leaps and bounds since my time, and the players have support staff to assist them with the recovery. Agree one or two of the younger players may need a breather next weekend as their bodies are not as physically developed, but the ones with a few seasons behind them should be fine by Sunday

You will find one of the knocks on ANB at the moment is his consistency in two way running

Er, we get replacement games, as for player welfare, that is why the club is furiously trying to get at least 30 players upto AFL standard so we can cover games like this, if any of the players don't recover like they should, we can bring ready made replacements in the following week, and give them a chance to full recover Spent a lot of time in Northern Australia during my Defence days, and not sitting in air conditioned offices, if you are super fit, you can recover quite quickly from physical exertion in hot and humid conditions, speaking from personal experience, and the players have the benefit of support staff and the latest science to assist them

My favourite part of Demonland, the assumptions about players, yes agreed all 3 have shown promise, and as long as they continue the promise they should give themselves a chance of being regulars, same as Matt Jones is doing now

Thought you might pop up and misinterpret what I said, whilst you have some backup of course, anybody can talk to a player, I just don't denigrate, if you denigrate then the player would be right to have an unfavourable opinion of you, if you discuss with them, they discuss, but as I have said, any answer from a player to a supporter is not to be believed surely?

Try not to type too fast you make mistakes I thought you said whatever the players say to supporters when they ask questions is not to be believed, or is that not the case for you? It is your opinion, the role he was playing didn't require him to do a lot of kicking, his role was to float around pissing on fires which he did exceptionally well I also had a chat to him at the start of pre season It is always you that has to denigrate, either players or posters, ever though the issue may be you, probably not, couldn't see through the narcissistic haze

I am not defending the club, I wouldn't care if the club came out on the Thursday and said all the players were [censored] spuds and we don't stand a chance as long as the team comes out during the actual game and has a real hot go and gives itself a chance to win. All this angst over a player that was written off over the summer on here, it smacks of hypocrisy Me, I like Jack Grimes both as a person and a player, but if he isn't picked for the team, I live with it, they have their reasons

Grimes couldn't get a game in the defence or attack, so the decision was made to get him to play on the wing at Casey and let him develop in that role, if you listen to Roos he has improved, but obviously not enough to displace the two or three players who will play that role on Sunday. Last year according to some on here he was a player who was not part of the team going forward, now we have posters clamouring for him to be included We are developing Terlich as a high half forward at Casey, because again there is no place in defence, his last couple of games in that role, according to Justin Plapp, have been really good, you want to bring him into the team as well, and if so to replace who If there is no role, or the incumbent is playing well, then it doesn't matter how well you are playing you don't get in, this is what we have been crying out for

Don't agree they were ordinary games, Trengove played his role, but agree looks to have gone for pace, if it works it is genius, if not pages of vitriol on here
