Satyriconhome replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's not a cry, so a one word 'bang' adds something to the discussion about Trengove does it, or does it salve I can grasp that discussion is one of the functions of this board, and I can have discussions about footy, with those that don't resort to childish point scoring or name calling, or can actually handle someone disagreeing with them, unlike some Some don't seem to find much positive, so therefore more balanced optimistic views help keep the topic chugging along -

They may have one on Moonie, a closed session, not sure if it is at Goschs as the net throwers have started, if it is should be 9.15 start -

Moonie, no that's cool, I am sure all of us don't read everything, I just find the same endless lines being trotted out at the mention of a player in a thread tiresome It is not defending them, I am bored with it, discussion is a fine thing, but those who are willing to do that and actually advance a topic are very few and far between on here, DD's one word contribution in the last hour or two being the perfect example All players have something they can improve, I can list what the players have told me, it's a long list, Jack Trengove's is his burst speed, he knows, he is trying to improve it I sometimes feel, like on other public forums, that some posters need to find fault with something, to help salve a little of their own inadequacy -

Moonie, it is not discussion, not all of us like reading the same thing from the same posters every time a certain player gets mentioned, Old Dee v Ben Ken, it is boring, WE ALL KNOW some think Trengove is slow, it has been said on here since he was drafted. It's not I can't accept critical discussion about players, it is reading the same [censored] thing over and over again, it reminds me of a herd of sheep bleating, I have enough posters on ignore, I will have nothing to read if I start to self censor what I read as well -

Vogon, it is not a discussion, that is my point, it is a variation on a theme, degrees of slowness, watching paint dry etc etc ad infinitum, till hell freezes over....I assume that unless Trengove, in a game, tucks it under his arm and does a very good impression of Usain Bolt, you will assume he is still slow? -

So Lewis and Jones must have an issue with clearances and stoppages because they continue to do work on it? Please, Trengove is working his way back from a serious injury, it is a credit to him that he has made it this far back, he has had a serious foot injury so one mental block could be planting his foot and bursting away, so a bit of extra work on this will do him wonders both physically and mentally He is quick between the ears, that is much more important than blistering speed, I have watched players burst away with blinding speed and then butcher the kick or the handball, one criticism that can't be levelled at Trengove is his decision making or hand or foot skills For me, speed is overrated, always has been, always will be Some posters have an issue with Trengove's supposed lack of speed, we know, must they repeat it every time his name gets mentioned? Let's wait for the real stuff to start and the game day thread, so they can really vent, if he gets a game of course -

Yes I agree, but he is doing a lot of work, I have watched him do it, just bored sometimes with the mob rule bleating from some, if he isn't thought to be good enough to warrant a game by the Footy Dept he won't get one, and we all know the outcome if he doesn't at the end of the season, me I hope he gets a crack at it -

On Jack Trengove, looking like he did before the injury, because he doesn't leave scorch marks on the grass some assume he is slow. Doesn't get caught out for speed in the match sims, and as we are still 2 months away from actually playing, and he is doing work on his burst speed, assume he will get better still -

On Hannan, I was watching him kick goals with both feet the other day, thought his non preferred was the left but asked him and he said right didn't miss with either foot scary -

No wasn't me chap, I was one of the others falling about in gales of laughter, until we were brought back to earth by being made to pack up all our gear and redeploy 5 miles away, had to walk there of course From one who has done a lot of similar exercises if the players embraced it, which from what I have heard, all did, they would have got a lot out of it

Those tecord attempts have regulated breaks, paricularly to ensure no mental stress Here is an amusing anecdote for you McQueen on this type of exercise, I took part in one years ago in UK military, had very little sleep over a week, we had a 'simulated' attack with wounded etc we raced up to one 'wounded' and one of our guys in his tired and emotional state, his training kicked in, ripped out his morphine jab and 'stabbed' a perfectly healthy guy with it in the thigh, said gentlemen not impressed but wasn't feeling much as they carted him off

He is a 'close' relative of Declan Keilty, close enough, I know a close relative of Pat McKenna, same thing, and James Harmes, Nev and Jayden Hunt all said same thing

The problem is every man and his dog has a theory/opinion on Jesse's kicking No one went near him yesterday, did have one of the staff feeding him balls to kick but they made no comment Think they just want him to practice with no input from anybody so he can become comfortable with a routine and it will transfer to match day, seemed to be trying to just simplify his routine, threw his cap off at one point, as if to say 'I don't wear one in the game" With the comments Trac received whilst he was kicking, no other player said a word to Jesse the whole time I was watching, again, leave him alone let him sort it out -

Wednesdays are craft day, and it was obviously decided, probably by Hogan himself, that the area he needs work on is goal kicking, so he spent a good part of the session doing work on it. Watched him have at least 10 shots at goal, until I got bored with it, run up is smoother, hop skip and jump is still there, missed 2 whilst I was watching -

I don't think the Clarry situation is a punishment, he is an aggressive bugger, just think he takes on the wrong people at training Yesterday he gave Nev a shove as he was matched up on him, Nev then strong armed him in the drill and Clarry ended up on the deck Similar to the Vince situation the other week, he also tried to rough up Jonesy a few weeks back, wrong The only exception is Clarry and Gawn, that's on any time they get near each other in drills Clarry keeps coming back for more which is great to watch -

Watched him from day 1, and also at Casey, just ticking through the sessions, nice solid build and neat skills, I like his aggression, doesn't seem out of place -

From a squad point of view, we only seem to have Tyson and Kent (can't get any info, so have given up) as 'injured', Hannan, ANB and Mitch King do not seem far away from returning so touch wood we will have over 40 players ready to go. I have spoken to a few of the players and they know if you get into the 22 in the AFL you will have perform consistently to a high standard or there will be somebody willing to do that and waiting to take your place -

No, they practice both, but if we can kick we can clear congestion, Goody and Macca acknowledge the best form of defence is attack, just get it up the other end as quickly as possible -

Giving him the opportunity to add another string to his bow, think they like his agility in close Was disappointed you didn't say hello Clint, was looking for somebody in a cap at a rakish angle -

The perfect one, he couldn't decide mid jump whether to take above his head or on his chest, so dropped it cold
