In fairness Stakk, I would think that you are preaching to the converted here. The die hard Dee. If all of us had the coin, we would be slobbering our beers all over you in the MCC members also. Im not so sure you can make it a simple debate of "I pay more for my membership, therefore I'm the better and more knowledgeable member". GWS made the mistake of recruiting players from the same junior club, or the same state, as a way of attempting to alleviate the "go home" factor. They should have backed themselves, and taken best available. Having said that, imagine their midfield with Adams and Treloar back in the squad. we would be touching ourselves like crazy if our midfield had as much talent. They really should have a cracker side this season.

4 competitive types in that whole list, and none of them a maniac like Viney. Oliver (by reputation) certainly signals a continuation of a very un-Melbourne direction. As for the argument about Jones/Cotchin, haven't people, since the beginning of time, been saying that the greats should be judged by their influence in finals? Compare Cotchin with Hodge. Sometimes raw talent cant overcome whats lacking inside the head. Thats not to say that Cotchin isn't more talented than Jones. I just dont think the gap is all that big.
