Time to go Goody?
Can you explain why he laid 200%+ tackles (5) last week compared to our three small forwards combined (2)

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
In 2022 we were fighting for a flag. Right now, we're fighting for a win. But by all means drop Kozzy - arguably our best player - for a couple of guys not setting the world alight at VFL level. Great way to increase his trade value and keep kids engaged at the footy.

Letter from Brad Green
Smith is doing exactly what he said he'd do. Take a year off, become President. How can you blame him?

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Yep. Wouldn’t want to rock the boat too much. If you thought 0-5 was bad, imagine how bad it would be without Goody!!

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Fremantle
Out: Sparrow - what can you even say? He's not good at a single thing, and the guys around him aren't good enough to hide that anymore. At least JJ could run. Sparrow has been gifted 100 games. What role does he play? Non-goal kicking/non-tackling/non-marking high half forward? Sharp - can't do much besides run and kick the odd goal. Why not play him on the wing? JVR - so out of touch its actually damaging. Let him kick a couple of bags and reset at Casey. An Anzac Eve call up is his carrot. Henderson to sub - clever player, but not much of an impact from the start. In: McVee - finally allows Rivers to move to full time mid Jefferson - showed something, will hopefully just lead. I'm not optimistic but I'm hopeful. Fullarton - has to come in off his Casey form. Petty to stay back to combat their insane number of KPFs. McVee - May - Petty Salem - McDonald - Bowey Chandler - Oliver - Langdon Melksham - Jefferson - Fritsch Pickett - Fullarton - Spargo Gawn - Petracca - Rivers Langford - Lindsay - Windsor - Viney Henderson

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
The move to defence has robbed him of his confidence. He now looks proppy and uncertain. Well done Simon and his little mate Nathan.

Time to go Goody?
The club had an absolute stench to it at the time. We were a shambles behind the scenes. Remember Paul McNamee? Cameron Schwab I and II? The revolving door of Presidents after Gutnick? Don't think the coaches were helped by that, but it wasn't their sackings that led to our horrible mess of a club. Neale, you could argue, deserved more time - but our list was so inconsistent. Bailey was the victim of Schwab having this club so far up its own **** for things it achieved 50 years earlier. At the same time, the culture festered under him. A loss of that magnitude was always going to be hard to survive. I was impressed when WCE stuck by Simpson after they lost by 171 to the Swans, but it turned out there wa no turnaround and losing by that much generally means your team is shot/not trying.

Time to go Goody?
I have yet to see a shred of evidence of what the plan is after we've done our 10 chip kicks. What's the next kick? How are we moving into our attacking half, never mind forward 50? The long kick down the line appears baked in, it is just taking longer to get there. We continue to be allergic to the corridor, even though the past three Premiers all used it to devastating effect.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Nathan Bassett was a boys club appointment. Goody's mate from the Crows who was most recently an assistant coach at Sturt. Not senior coach, assistant. He was never highly regarded as an AFL assistant.

Time to go Goody?
Some caretakers take the shackles off and tell the players to just go on instinct. A list like ours, tied into ribbons by trying to play two separate game plans at the moment, but stacked full of talent, would surely benefit from this. If we pull the trigger now and get guys playing for fun again, we'll be far better placed for coach and trade targets. Goodwin is getting nothing from this list. They're confused, unhappy and clearly over his message. Well done to him on a great stint, but good clubs know when to say bye bye.

2025 MFC Injury List
When this bloke was at the Lions, their list was more injured than fit every season. A couple of years later, and they’re the fittest and healthiest team in the league aside from ACLs. A classic MFC, foot-shooting appointment.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Did you watch the game? Chandler isn't a small forward anymore. He's playing on the wing.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Could have stopped there.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Out: Salem - If you're looking at standards, this guy is top of the list. Absolute seagull. Keeps his stat sheet tidy every week to the detriment of the team. Petty - I like him, but 4 doesn't go into 3 and McDonald is in better form. Viney - Too many clearance players. Go to the VFL and learn to become a small forward. If you're too good for that, then request a trade please. McVee/Lindsay - whichever one is fit Lever - slightly better option than Petty, but pretty bog average these days at everything except for shouting Laurie - I guess

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
I would happily pay half his contract or give up a pick if we could get him out. Have said it once and will say it again. There is nothing "heart and soul" about taking advantage of the club being in the [censored] to get a long contract extension when you're in the condition he is in. He has been either co-captain or vice captain for the past 10 seasons, he should bear some of the brunt for the standards in the playing group.

Time to go Goody?
"We have work to do". Every week the same comment. When does it start, you absolute fraud? Look how unfit half our list is. Taking nothing away from 2021, because we were magnificent, but it is clear as day that we only got it together and won a flag because the players weren't able to freely access the same "temptations" that you can indulge in when you're not in a quarantined hotel.

Goalkicking
Williams is stealing a living at the moment. Our kicking across the board is diabolical and I'm not sure his taped up footys are doing the biz.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Agree in principle but these two are our main guys with value who both seem to want out. You won’t get anything for Gawn, May, Viney - may as well let them lead a mini rebuild. Get the picks in pre Tassie, bring them through with a solid core around them, and we could be up and contending by 2028. Bowey, JVR, McVee, Jefferson, Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford, Lindsay. That’s our first round talent since 2020. Plenty to work with there with the right coach and a decent group of veterans.

Time to go Goody?
So sick of hearing this. JVR, in his 2nd and 3rd seasons combined, kicked 58 goals. He didn't play in his first. Weideman kicked 77 across his nine year career. There is no comparison. He's had a bad start to the year, and he may never be a proper #1 key forward, but stop throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Take a look at yourself. Fritsch is lazy. He is also a top 10 goalkicker pretty much every season. Why would you delist him, especially when clubs would have been lining up every season for the past five years with first round picks on offer.

Time to go Goody?
There's a leadership void at the club right now. Of those who would have been considered leaders in the flag year. Gawn is a year older, and beginning to slow down at last. The game is moving away from one-paced extractors like Viney, and he looks slower too. Petracca showed his hand. Not saying he was wrong, because he was mishandled, but there's clearly a fracture there. A good chance to be out next year. May is probably past it, at least as a first banana key defender. He was also involved in a scrap over the summer, and the first thing he did this week was whack a bloke and give away 50. You can carry leaders like this when all are on the straight and narrow, not when you desperately need calm heads. Lever has failed to advance his game since becoming a premier interceptor in his early 20s. Some of his contemporaries, like Tom Stewart, have managed to remain aerial kings whilst also being able to stick to a man. Lever is more Allir - good at one thing, but error prone. This bloke should be close to the AA squad every season, but has only made it once. What does it say to young players when someone is getting so much less out of themselves than they could? Losing ANB and Brayshaw in consecutive years was a disaster, and one the club seems to have done nothing to mitigate. Neither of them was as good as the top liners in the team, with respect to Gus who was a jet in his good seasons, but both were cultural barometers. All the cultural talk this year rings hollow when you see how disconnected the team looks on field. I thought we were bad in 23, then in 24, now I almost think back to last year warmly because it was rare the team didn't look at least relatively cohesive. We have a huge hole in the list of players drafted between 2015-2018 - guys squarely in their prime with years to go. Our core was drafted between 2009-14, and then 19-24. The latter is encouraging, as it means we have more young talent than other clubs in our position - but who the hell is going to lead them? Right now, its Max until he drops and then probably Lever who is still decent, but as said above, is hardly an example of a footballer who leaves everything on the field and gives everything he has every week. With all this in mind - you have to ask yourself. Do you trust Goodwin to plug the gaps himself? Is he the kind of eloquent coach who can speak to people at their level? Is he able to drive standards whilst straddling the line between popular and respected? The answer for me is a resounding no. As it was 6 months ago. Which makes hanging onto him and wasting this season all the more frustrating. Likewise Richardson.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Morris, despite his sins, is a passionate Dees supporter.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
It's too early for this. We need to reassess at the bye. Right now, you trade one of them at least. What you don't do, however, is give up entirely just yet. Both are well below their fitness peak but both seem to be on the right track. We will know more shortly. Just hope the fact finding process isn't as painful as the past two weeks have been.

Time to start a rebuild?
2027 will be a heavily compromised draft. Collingwood's first pick would likely be in the 20s.

Time to start a rebuild?
Package all of our good young players for two picks. Genius way to rebuild.

Time to start a rebuild?
Bring in a hungry coach and coaching group. Move Petracca and Pickett on, Oliver too if there are picks on the table. If Petty wants to move again, and has a good year in defence, let him go for a decent pick. Let Lever, Viney, May, Gawn, Langdon earn their money and protect the kids from complete humiliation. Bank high picks and pick up ready kids.
