Training Ground?
I was at a function and sitting near both Roffey and Pert during both finals matches. I was amazed on how calm they remained during both matches. Me on the other handâŠ.. đĄđ€Šđ»

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
I agree with this. My nephew is also hoping to be drafted. So, I know his family are probably watching Duursmaâs performances with a glass half full lense. However, Iâd hate for us to pick him with our first rounder and it turns out that theyâre right and he isnât that good.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Interesting you say this, I caught up with my family yesterday - my nephew plays with Duursma at Gippsland Power. I asked them what they think of him and where he should land. They said the same thing. They said he can take great marks and can do amazing passages of play, but he can butcher it and goes missing. They are a little shocked that he is in consideration for a top 5 pick.

Any word on Angus?
I havenât posted for a long time, and mostly read for news. Particularly, trade news. But this, I can categorically say he is. In my view, the fact that he heard this matter makes me as sick as the actual incident.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Did anyone else notice how chuffed Jones was after the short scuffle on the boundary in the third, when he was being pinned down and three or four team mates helped him out....that would not have happened in years past.

Agree. I'm still asking myself why did I have to scim over all that dribble and waste an hour of my life. I certainly don't feel any better for it. If the posters in question think it is a topic worth discussing or debating, then start a thread for it and DON'T derail another one.

What about Ivan Drago. I can just imagine him telling his opponent at the start of every match - "I will break you"

I believe it's the club and its development program and not the players fault - how many times do we lay blame at these players and/or our recruiters. So many top ten draft picks that haven't developed, too coincidental IMO.

Please don't mention Wines, Tona. It might start the whole Toumpas vs Wines debate, again

Yeah I heard that. He kept saying how "loyal he is to Melbourne" and he believes he'll be in our colours next year.

I appreciate that it's not the conservative way, however how would you propose they can either toughen him up and/or remove his fear of getting hurt?
-
Jack Watts
I agree, but you can remove the fear of getting hurt. IMO to achieve this he has to get hit hard regularly so that he realizes it's not as bad as what he fears. It's the only way he'll develop any further.
-
Jack Watts
Sorry and thirdly and most importantly: That he'll learn that you have to stand up and take the hits sometimes, you can't rely and hide behind your mates all the time.

If I were the new coach and watts stayed my first job would to toughen him up. For one day every week I'd put him in the ring with Clarkey and tell him to punch the crap out of him. One, it'll teach him to box and he'll learn how to block pretty quick. And secondly, it'll make him realize that s%#t I'm taking a hammering but I've survived.

I think that if David Swartz wants to help the club out - They should get him giving Watts, Frawley and Sylvia motivational speeches about how good this club is and to help the younger ones build this club back up to where it belongs. I would think that they'd respond to that more than Neeld's dry manerisms.

I would never normally do this, but I can't stand to see this train wreck in slow motion. The only way for the club to listen to its supporters is for a "Please remove Neeld and appoint a Senior coach with Finals credabilities" petition to be put forward. Going from what I see on this site I think there is enough support to get one kicked off. I would love to know feedback on if people think it is feasible or just a waste of time?
