after the last few weeks I am not so worried about beating the Pies but I am worried about the team finding some across the board form. I have no desire just to make finals. Want to win two at least if not the magical 4.

that's the real question We have been just average for the last 5-6 weeks. A good quarter here and there but we need some across the ground improvement by the team. Obviously with an in form Gawn we are such a better side.

well for a moment in that fourth quarter it could have been a grand boulevarde and then it started looking like a cattle grid. What joy.... your season depends on beating the Magpies.... something poetic in that but why do we MFC supporters never have it easy

North and Lions are on the bottom for a reason. When are we going to see a functioning forward line

Would like to see a significant lift in the team performance over the next two weeks. Our second half of the season has been slightly pedestrian. It just seems that we rarely click as a team. A 20% lift across the board could see us deep into September.

Other than those goals from Harmes in the first quarter our forward line was rather dysfunctional last week. If it had not been for those late goals from Hannan and Melksham our season would be almost over.

Strange that JKH did not get a role in Viney's absence. None of the VFL regulars have grabbed their oppotunity when granted. Perhaps Maynard this week but not full of confidence. The Hogan selection is a surprise... will be interesting to see if we can get our forward line functioning again. It has not really worked for several weeks. Another big game... Go Dees

For GWS we would perhaps need to change our game plan and be more defensive forcing them wide and slowing their forward delivery. Carlton did it well against them at docklands as have other teams.

At VFL level his set shots that I have seen in the four games I attended are quite reasonable. Probably just a confidence thing at AFL level Next years pre- season comp will be a big test for him.

Harry had a job telling lottery winners that they had won the big one. IIRC it was for the Oz version of the UK soccer pools. Big money for the winners. Because H was a trusted figure many would ask H what they should do with their money. It was alleged that H received an undisclosed commission from some of these investments in return for his recommendation. With the general economic collapse in '89 these schemes went bad and Harry's role came to light. Rex H was not a fan of Harry as I recall. Anyway he did his time and should now be remembered for the larger than life character that he was. Footy was a very different game in the days of radio and 3AW was king in the late70's and '80's. His sidekick Tommy Lahif was a mad Port supporter and was a real genuine character.

other than the GF very few finals are sell outs even those held interstate. Home and away often attract a bigger crowd in SA because of reserved seat pre-sales. These deals do not apply to finals and therefore plenty of unreserved tickets. If we play Richmond and it is a designated final series game that would probably be the closest to a sell out. Of course the GF is another story as so many tickets are already pre-allocated.

My understanding is yes... there was a ruling out a few weeks back

Needs to dominate at VFL level for at least a couple of games. He had one good game against Box Hill and has had around 3 good quarters otherwise. At VFL he gets put into the ruck because he is getting "cold" as a forward. Has a long way to go and hopefully we see him demand a place in 2018. He also needs to work very hard on his running patterns if he is going to make it. Have a look at how hard Daniher works. Darcy Moore is another one who is showing slow improvement but the absence of an alternative sees him playing at AFL level every week.

Salem unless suspended for Wagner and Watts for Weideman Garlett has a few credits Would not be surprised if we rested Petracca and/or Oliver but I hope not. Cannot see Hogan being ready but perhaps he could play VFL in the bye week all going well

You may be right but Dogs have Port and Hawthorn to come. Neither is an easy game. On probability alone... Essendon and ourselves are the favourites but we all know what can happen to favourites Going to be another long week

Hannan... 5 kicks... 4 hand balls One tackle As I said the two goals in the last saved his game Weid and Wagner were woeful

Gus...yes The others....Nope Keeping Pederson in was a good move and Hannan saved his game with those two goals but otherwise was ineffective

Well we now have some tarmac on this track. Two more "season defining" games to go. Looking forward to all the ladder predictors. Go Dees

My two big measures for success this year were beating the Saints and North. One out of two ain't bad but .... well you know what I mean
