  1. VFL play Geelong at Casey on Saturday night (7pm). Selection of emergencies etc for the Sunday game will be interesting...
  2. Definitely not ... but the door has been left wide open by the senior side. Agree ... Garlett gets another week .... With whom is Kent replaced? Bugg is injured and I am not sure that Fritsch and Hannan are like for like in regards to replacing Kent. At least we know the turf will be nice and dry next week. Really hope they resist springing T Mac as a surprise selection .. smacks of utter desperation if they do.
  3. Didn't think I would ever say this but Spargo for Garlett is perhaps worth a try ... (at best Jeff has one more week before he gets an enforced rest) Do any others think that Balic could be a smoky for inclusion? (Still don't understand whether he was injured, rested or whatever this round)

  5. spot on your Lordship. Our ability to dramatically impact the list is limited unless we trade one of our few better players. Last years draftees are not without talent. Hopefully we get some AFL level impact from them in the second half of the season.
  6. I am sure that most us pre season had the North and Bears games pencilled in as wins. As to the remaining four rounds of the first six games, Geelong, Hawks, Tigers and Essendon, I assessed them as 50/50 games and while I would have been happy with two wins out of four I was hoping for 3 out of 4. Well to say the least we have started badly. Lose to Essendon and we will be 2-4. Given the horrific run home we have we would need to win the next five straight to have a good chance of making the eight. That would mean we turn at 7-4 at the bye and then have to win 6 post bye (a hard ask). The only comfort I take about the coming game is that Essendon are as flaky as we are. Lose to them and the season is almost over. Scraping into the 8 on percentage doesn't do much for me.
  7. hard to win a game if you kick 5 goals for three quarters ....
  8. not sure how GA standing room is counted. I assume they monitor the non seating ticketed entrant numbers at the turnstiles. Might be a good idea to arrive around an hour early and I would think you would be ok
  9. ???? he was ok at best
  10. makes some sense but if true I would have expected the club to say so... mind you MFC is often failing in the communication stakes these days
  11. dropped into the station last week after hearing about it. The program at that time was from Sydney and ARL centric. Obviously they will have some AFL but it didn't grab me at the time
  12. Lose both tonight and against the Bombers we may as well start to plan for next season. We need to go to the bye at around 7 and 4... lose the next two and we will 2-4 which means we would need to win the next 5 straight. Big couple of weeks on the way.
  13. I must have missed that in his game at Coburg.... boy Goody does love the spin
  14. Agree BB Hogan is one of the few big men going around who is reasonably good below his knees. If we are lucky enough to have both Weid and T Mac firing (we would need to be very lucky) we would be a very powerful unit. As to how it would work with the current game plan, that is of course a secret known only to a select few of which I am not one. For me I would position Weid about 35 metres from goal and get him to run a number of patterns that were used intermittently as decoy runs and scoring runs. Nothing I have seen so far of the Weid suggests that he has the natural ability to "find" the ball. It would then be up to our skilled kicking midfield to find him at the designated points. ... yeah ... of course I'm dreaming !!
  15. Indeed there is my friend. We played our opening game last year down there OD. A beautiful day... caught the old train to Williamstown.. fish and chips on the promenade and then to the ground. Got chatting with some young fellows who played for the Williamstown under 18 comp. They were a pleasure to speak with and it is probably what got me interested in following the Casey VFL team. Port Melbourne is also worth a mention for its famous Burra burger alone
  16. Have a look at this Clint. Seems that you can get general admission with your MFC membership but it could be pot luck getting a seat. There is always standing room in the Southern Stand. cheers http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-16/anzac-day-eve-match-day-information
  17. Agree DD... a very strange set up. It also made it hard for spectators to access the arena itself at the breaks. Also very unimpressed with Punt Road from a spectator viewpoint. Ended up in the old stand which was comfortable but I love the VFL because of the ability to easily stroll around the ground and watch from different vantage points. Absolutely impossible due to access to various parts being denied. Catering came from one van in a crowded area that further exacerbated the squeeze. Give me Box Hill, Coburg etc any day. Williamstown on a non windy day is also an absolute delight.
  18. Here's the Tigers injury list ... Player Injury Scheduled return Daniel Rioli Foot TBC Jack Graham Suspension 1 week
  19. Saty in fairness I don't think you will see much if any complaint about Casey's overall performance on this thread. There was a comment on the game plan by one or two that is a different matter. Just very few positives unfortunately and those that were there have been mentioned by several posters.
  20. don't worry they won't be there long. Looks like Brisbane are the wooden spoon favourites at present
  21. Not a great day at the office. 5 or 6 unanswered goals for us to start the game and then the Tiges for the rest of that quarter and the second quarter. Better second half but we were unable to significantly impact the scoreboard and bridge the gap. Hard to say who played well but certainly Pedersen, Spargo and Hannan impacted the game. Was it enough to demand selection...maybe for Pedersen and Hannan... depends how their equivalent plays on Tuesday night. Although we lost it was not a thrashing. Overall they were physically stronger and taller. I often wonder what coaches/tacticians look for in their VFL teams. Wins are nice but in reality it can come down to where you are with your list building, injuries and how much you spend on your back up players. If there is a worrying factor other than Pedersen (and ignoring this years draftees) no one really put up their hand and said pick me. Much the same can be said about the previous games as well.
  22. 2 goals to the tigers and that's it
  23. Spargo having a good few minutes. Missed a gettable goal from 35 on an angle. Casey doing a lot better
  24. A better performance by the Dees so far this quarter but not much impact on the scoreboard. 86 -66
  25. True...was not meaning it as a criticism. Tigers look to be bigger bodied. Since half way through the first quarter tigers have been by far the better side.
