  1. Its a pretty even comp as we all know there are no easy games and when your not on 100% you will be punished Hopefully second half is a very different story Reality bus is never far away
  2. Well hopefully they can get going - be unusual to be rubbish for a whole game
  3. its not half time and less than 2 goals difference - no need to panic yet
  4. I'm not surprised there is no change this week Viney coming back allows Trac to spend more minutes inside F50 where he becomes our Dusty
  5. They should be asking why they have been over 4 to 1 odds two weeks in a row in a two horse race Maybe its because they aren't as good as they think ?
  6. Its a bit too Putin the face for me
  7. Petracca - Good plus goals Salem - very solid game Gawn - awesome last quarter Langdon - made for MCG Oliver - strong contest beast Jordon - keeps on improving Brayshaw - the unsung hero May - tough calm uncompromising Harmes - missed his chances Hibberd - overall good contribution Hunt - won his position Viney - will get better Lever - a smart footballer McDonald - not his best Neal-Bullen- run is important Rivers - love his energy Sparrow - great long goal Jackson - continues developing nicely Fritsch - pretty poor performance Spargo - gives his all Petty - solid not spectacular Pickett - back to basics
  8. Fearless would be my description
  9. Did you watch the Casey game ? BB didn't dominate - Nathan Jones did - just saying Two of BBs goals were pretty lucky if you ask me One was due to a very clever kick from Rosman where he ran onto a loose ball just in front of goal The other was a gift from AVB which could have easily been AVBs if he wanted to kick his second
  10. Our pressure game inside 50 relies on all players zoning and chasing - if one player doesn't play their role in that the whole system suffers which may be the reason Melksham is at Casey There are currently two people in our forward 50 with speed to chase defenders and apply real pressure (Kossie and ANB) both are really important for that alone I do agree he needs tidy up his approach to attacking the ball and delivery which all seems a bit haphazard atm
  11. Perhaps it doesn't matter if we win. But it certainly feels watching our games we are wasting a lot of entries by what appears to me at least bad structure or bad execution Steven May flagged this in his interview - we should and can become more efficient if they keep working on it
  12. Where do we rank in inside 50 entries per game and efficiency per entry that is perhaps a more relevant comparison ? I don't know the answer btw
  13. What is music to my ears is the likes of Lever and May both interviewed and both stating emphatically that they haven't achieved anything yet Whilst the start to the season has been very strong it doesn't guarantee or equate to real success when it matters - finals and a premiership Whether we like it or not the MFC will never be taken really seriously until the premiership drought monkey is removed from our back This group has the potential - it may not necessarily be this year but things change in this game quickly so take your chance when it arises Go Dees - ignore the noise - keep focused
  14. Worth noting that Weid directly involved in 3 goals plus the one he kicked himself Not suggesting he should return to the AFL just yet but it was probably a better game overall than I originally thought
  15. I don't think his height is the reason he's not mobile Eric Hipwood 202 cm Harry McKay 204cm Buddy 199cm Josh Kennedy 196cm Max King 202cm Ben King 202cm All of the above plus Cameron and Lynch I would argue are more mobile than BB. That I'm afraid is one of his limitations. He does have some strengths to off set that but he's never going to be very agile and add to our forward 50 pressure game IMO
  16. Seems we didn't like the gaming side of this - not sure who actually drafted the letter but those 3 paragraphs could easily be converted to one - about as efficient as our forward 50 entries atm ? Credit to them for keeping the communication going though
  17. Max was one of the main reasons we won that game - his efforts in the last quarter were fantastic He is such a great character - we are very very lucky to have Max
  18. I think that fact is a big consideration - having watched the VFL game I would be looking at Chunk, AVB or maybe Melksham as possible inclusions - BBB may not be suited to a cold wet Melbourne afternoon. I'm not his greatest fan and happy to admit that but playing him may set him up for failure if conditions are not good
  19. Really good summary Binman I thought Weid tried really hard and did a few nice things but just lets himself down occasionally - hopefully he will continue to build more confidence Jones was great he really did look a class above that level - ability to work through traffic and hit targets was impressive Brown was ok he did take a few marks and with the goals in the bank has put his hand up - defensively I still have concerns AVB is an absolute beast if only his disposal was reliable - cant fault his aggression and I'm sure there would be a few looking over their shoulder when he is around Rosman does move well, can kick, can mark, is prepared to tackle - I think he will develop nicely with another preseason to build more strength Bowey has excellent balance and disposal - he will play seniors sometime not too sure where but it looks like back six in the short term - that might keep him out if they all stay fit and in form. I liked the fact he was annoyed whenever he didn't execute as well as he can Haven't seen much of Majak - he tried hard but didn't have huge impact and maybe still building fitness Smith is so frustrating as he looks like he could be anything but never seems to play consistently
  20. Just curious - is their any video uploaded for this game ? Assume not but thought I'd ask anyway ?
  21. He really has fallen away and should and would be disappointed with his performance v Collingwood and Essendon Mind you he isn't the only one and the forward 6 have been pretty ordinary (ex Jackson and Spargo). Fritta is on very thin ice IMO and would want to perform well against GWS.
  22. That would be a risky move - hardly the most versatile footballer on our list
  23. Agree - all games are critical but this is exactly the type of game that a genuine contender will win - get it done MFC
  24. The constant references to the ski season is reflective of their lack of creativity However I particularly liked this one No bombing forward otherwise May and Lever will have a field day intercepting Low/scrubber type kicks when entering forward What mental giant came up with that - one can only hope its one of their coaching staff
  25. Surely BB has to earn his spot in the team not be an automatic selection On his limited exposed form to date he is far from best 22 imo He has been unlucky that there has been no VFL to show the MC he is ready to perform - however having said that his most recent performance at that level was underwhelming
