  1. Folks, Goodwin isn't going anywhere. Our off field leadership is in no-man's land, virtually non-existent: caretaker president no CEO GM Football whose days are said to be numbered. No one is going to make a decision on the coach. They say 'a fish rots from the head'. Well we don't have an effective 'head' right now. Eventually the lack of leadership plays out on the field. More so, with what I believe is a misfit group of coaches.
  2. I truly believe the implementation of a modified game plan is the blind following the blind. Look at the coaching panel. 2 Defenders and 2 bull type midfielders. No ball movement coaches, no tactical experience, limited or no experience in different clubs. I'm not saying a coach needs experience in the area he is coaching. But surely as a collective they should have some experience in the intended game plan. Someone needs to take the conceptual game plan and break it down position by position, player by player until each understands their own role and that of teammates. I'm not seeing that. We are playing like brown's cows and I put it down to poor implementation and communication of the game plan. imv we didn't recruit the coaches we needed.
  3. I'm glad he didn't use the four letter word starting with L ! The players sure didn't show much love toward him or his grand plan. Nor to each other. I was proud of the team in week 1, gave them a mulligan last week; today they were abysmal 😭.
  4. Has anyone been brave enough to listen to Goodwin's press conf. Had to pour🍷before tuning in ... Btw, I am very angry which is not something I experience too often in any part of life.
  5. I made a few bold predictions in the Game Day thread. They were all wrong!!! Except one: that Matty Rowell needed to be minded. He wasn't. He ran free clocking up 13 clearances, 36 possessons, 7 tackles etc etc etc. Why oh why did we not put someone on him. It was depressing watching him just waltz out of the centre with no one near him setting up play down the corridor. FGS if this humble fan who knows little about football can identify Rowell as the danger man why could our coaches not! The only good thing about he game is it was easy to get a seat on the train and arrived home in daylight! Well, Langdon and Langford deserve special mentions.
  6. LOL...so was mine ... meant to be a play on words ... We seem to have our humour antennas out of sync lately ...
  7. The irony is we were the team without match fitness against GWS, let Green dominate and surrendered the game. Every chance GCS are that team today. We need to curb the play makers like Green. Tactically, today I think it will be Rowell especially at CB and fwd half stoppages. A job for Viney and or Swallow ... We also need tactics to stop Mac Andrew copying Comben last week (@Demonstone please note spelling 😁). A good decoy job for Melksham and tell the players to ignore Melksham and keep Andrew away from the play to not intercept. Last quarter fade outs have been our undoing for nearly a year. I truly think that if there are no passengers we have good tactics and we play the full 4 qtrs we will win ... Is that asking too much ... 🤔
  8. Look at the table on page 1 of this thread. George updates it fairly regularly.
  9. On first reading I thought that said no sense at all !😉
  10. Dees WILL WIN by 17 points! Our home ground Suns not 'match fit' - no games played this season; the round 1 training/practice game vs WCE doesn't count. Backs-to-the-wall demons will come out fighting like rnd 23, 2024 Stage set for a mighty come back by our beloved demons! We've lost Lever since I posted the above yesterday but TMac comes in. Play with grit and intent for 4 quarters and I still think we win !!!
  11. Just to let everyone know that the fund raising goal has been reached: $565 added today!!! I'm sure @Demonland will be very pleased. Had a chuckle about the 1 cent added to their donation by one D'lander ! 👏🏻🙃
  12. Like @daisycutter I didn't need to login. I went straight into the Forum and everything went smoothly from there. I use a PC with Firefox. I haven't tried to log out - just in case it gets all fussy and won't let me back in 😉
  13. This is one for @Demonland
  14. Very good point on donation. For those that can https://demonland.com/clients/donations/ and help get to the goal: Raised 1,435.00 AUD of 2,000.00 AUD target
  15. You will miss the real-time excitement of a stirring Demons victory!

  17. btw, I couldn't find who is currently reading/writing in a thread which had been at the bottom of the thread. Is it somewhere else?
  18. 👏💪🏻 👏🏻Excellent work Andy @Demonland and @Nasher I've 'road tested' a few features I often use and they work as usual or are better!!! In particular: Love the GIF's : Really like that the text of a quoted post is in red so easy to separate from the comment Having the Menu down the side makes it so much easier to navigate the site. (I couldn't work out what the 'Threads' menu option was about? No biggie, just curious) Thank you. ps I noticed the colour of the emoji's changed ... again no biggie
  19. We want to give Mac Andrew intercept marking practice ... 🤷‍♀️
  20. I think we need a different mix of Assistant coaches and a new GM Football rather than a Goodwin replacement. Wouldn't mind Craig Jennings back but unfortunately they seemed to fall out in 2019. He is eccentric and a bit quirky but imv was very good for us and previously, WBD. He has been at GWS as defence coach and now Midfield/Transition coach. As an aside the GWS coaching mix and structure is really interesting with high calibre incumberns: https://www.gwsgiants.com.au/teams/coaching-staff
  21. Fair comments. For me it is about balance. One can be vulnerable but still show strength to at some point move out of the vulnerable stage and show confidence about the future. I don't mind us being on a journey but it would be good to have a leader with a clear plan who shows confidence in how to get there. I suspect Goodwin has that but he isn't talking about it much since the start of the season. I don't think there is lack of empathy from posters. They are just saying that now 3 weeks into the season, it is time to move on from the vulnerable stage. Or if we haven't moved on best to balance the commentary with confidence in the future without too many platitudes.
  22. Or the coaching staff haven't adequately explained/taught the alternative method that is easily understood by and that all players buy into. So players are confused ... that is how they look to me.
  23. I agree with the Petracca reference but that is now ancient history. Petracca has moved on. Goodwin seems to talk about 'love' in every interview regardless of the context. As they say in the classics: talk is cheap! Time to stop trying to convince everyone the club is a loving place.
  24. Why is anyone surprised our mids just bomb it forward! Our midfield coach was a fierce, get ball bomb it forward midfielder. Loved that about him and his dedication to the club. That style worked in 2018 and 2021. But Jones has no experience with any other game style or ball movement method. He was a champion player and will always be a club champion but not sure he has the experience or creativity to support Goodwin implementing a new game style. Sadly, I think we are back in the 2020 situation where Goodwin doesn't have the mix of and experienced assistants with knowledge of how to implement change and how to succeed. From what I can tell we don't have a strategy type coach or a ball movement coach. Fairly critical I would have thought to communicate and implement a new style. It is one thing to want to change, quite another to make it happen. And imv we look and sound confused, on and off the field.
  25. Caroline Wilson can be a pain but she rarely gets her facts wrong. The worrying part was the Steve Smith response to the list of candidates the Board presented to him: Underwhelming!
