  1. hate to say but while the dees are a good side they’re just not a premiership threat.
  2. geez we needed that
  3. wow… that’s revealing. The trouble over at the bombers is that so many of them believed “the big lie” ie there was no drug program or that it was somehow all ok. If you proceed from that perspective then there really is a massive conspiracy against them including from the umpires. As [censored] as i was/ am about our club taking all the heat for the competition wide practice of tanking, i’d much prefer that than living in the victim / conspiracy filled world they’re stuck in.
  4. what was our record? 52k? really pretty good i reckon considering covid and what the mood was at the start of the season. Given the team doesn’t fall in an almighty hole at the end of the season and covid doesn’t crunch everything next year i think our numbers will be way up next year. it’s a great base to expand from.
  5. we’ll put and thanks fr expressing that.

Never the same after his huge hamstring injury in the night gf in 89 but he was a major reason for our run in 87 and 88. loved watching him play. one of my all time favourites. remembering him fondly
  7. with so much focus on concussion symptoms surely this must be looked at. Happens every week!
  8. genuinely undecided about not picking BBB. I guess for his own sake they want him coming in with confidence. and form. Also I suppose we have 3 main options going forward. weid, brown, or neither of them. This at least gives us another look at option 3.
  9. Easy move to make in terms of where we play and train. Wants to play in a premiership.
  10. too early to say he’s been scrap heaped. a few injuries and he’s back . and if so i reckon he’ll be ok too.
  11. Boom! Thanks GNF. Many’s the slip between the cup and the lip of course but massive if it pans out.
  12. As much as i feel the anger at him not being who we need him to be, I also feel for Weid. it really does seem so much of the issue is mental and If anyone has experienced such things it can be hard or even impossible to change. Like all mental issues people immediately think it’s just being weak. It isn’t. I wonder with the pedigree he has just how deep the “ expectation” story runs in him and whether it may just be too much to get past. I also wonder if he and his manager, by going fr such a big contract, added more to the pile. Only he know that. Personally i wish him well, but, barring a minor miracle, i think it’s time we started to get used to life without him. sad as it is fr all parties.
  13. without endangering any lives… can u tell me how good that moles info is?
  14. Last weeks win was a high like ive barely known as a 50 + years supporter. This weeks win sent me to a whole new level. 20 points down at half time against a side 3rd on the ladder having just won 7 straight. To then come out and overpower, out run, out tackle and out think them was more hawthorn or richmond like than any melbourne team i’ve ever known. Add to this that if we hadnt kicked 4 goals 8 from set shots ( one of the few negatives) we could have won tonight by more like 8 goals. in reality after half time that was a massive thumping. More than last week, this week tells me , with an ounce of luck, we can win this years flag. it’s the team orientation, the coaching moves, the emergence of so many new stars ( kozzie, rivers, jackson, spargo .. yes spargo) with the old ones ( gawn, oliver, petracca, May, Langdon Lever, Brayshaw) stepping further up. Not to mention fringe players like harmes, petty, anb , sparrow all playing outstanding roles. barely a weak link! how many melbourne teams have i been able to say barely a weak link about? This team is one fr the ages. 11-1 . crazy .
  15. anyone have any idea what we might make out of this?
  16. Stephen May says Hi.
  17. or even an outright request for help. Surely at 10-1 theyd have some people ( that could afford it) be willing to chip in. I would.
  18. i’m torn re the money but u make good points .
  19. Under normal circumstances yes it does. But no crowds, no corporate boxes, no exxy pre game functions etc etc will impact that line massively. I suspect for covid reasons our membership uptake has fallen behind as well. I believe players also get paid more for finals. We will soon have a big issue on our hands.
  20. tough situation fr the club isn’t it. we are one of the clubs most vulnerable financially and taking a hit in the NT and QB games is going to really put heat on us. being such a good side in a year where your actually making less on crowds is also going to hurt us. ultimately the good of the club has to prevail in this choice. gifting brisbane a home game in a 1 v 3 may be wrong, and feels v unpalatable ( not to mention unfair) but i’d go with it as well.
  21. what do people think of kade simpson fr a year as insurance?
  22. there was more to it than just that 2018 age podcast which i was quoting from. you’re making feel like searching fr it ... i’ll see how i feel later.
  23. i did read it LN , as it’s remained etched somewhere deep in my heart. but i’m def not going searching through her work at that time to find it. lol. someone else here may have a stronger stomach than me.
  24. lots of love here for CW. She has many years of good journalism and some low lows. Personally i’ll never forgive her fr the slow leaking tanking story she drove at us. And lest anyone say “ she was right” she wasn’t. she still says that episode was worse than the drug saga at essendon. she does. At the time she outright questioned whether we should continue as a club and wanted jimmy stynes statue removed from the G. let’s remember that she wasn’t speaking without “fear or favour” she was absolutely doing the bidding of the AFL. so many clubs including the big clubs ie hawks, pies, blues and others had done it, and the afl needed to stamp it out. this was mainly because there had been the entrance of big gambling sponsorship money into the game. So scapegoat was needed to a./ make it look like it was just ONE club and protect the AFL and b./ to scare all clubs away from the action. So despite the obvious cover up at the centre of her work ie that it was many clubs over many years, encouraged by AFL policy she tried to shame us literally out of existence. she outright tried to kill the club by poisoning us to death and questioning our right to exist. all of this in one of our darkest, weakest hours. was tanking good, helpful or beneficial nope. Especially fr us. was it worse than essendon drug saga??? should we have removed jimmy’s statue at the G? do we have a right to exist as a club? Caro will never look the same to me after that. i don’t care about anything she does or has done after that.
  25. yeah i saw that too. my first instinct is i wanted weid to be a bit stronger. it made me miss viney tbh. one of these days, and it may well be against the lions, a side is going to try physically intimidate us ..and i don’t mean at or around the ball. weid, jackson, tmac, lever are all wonderful players but they wouldn’t strike physical fear into a mouse.
