  1. ‘And just like that… the entire crowd disappeared’.
  2. Sorry @La Dee-vina Comedia I read all your posts in this guys voice.
  3. Actually I’ll make it easier for you. In the last month we played 3rd away, 5th away, and 9th (fighting to stay alive) and 4th at home. Geelong played 12th away and 8th, 10th and 17th at home. I guarantee if we got that soft a draw we would have rested players.
  4. A few seem to have forgotten the difference between the last 2 months of our season compared to Geelong’s. We had to fight for a double chance all over the country, while Geelong played predominantly at home against much weaker teams. If you want to over simplify the season maybe start there, and not with the bloke who coached us to our only premiership in 58 years only 13 months ago.
  5. Who did they ask? Grandma’s with a penchant for neck tattoos who haven’t watched the footy since 2017?
  6. Yep. He continues to be the best player in the competition, and we continue to pay him as such.
  7. 64kg? At that weight he’s an OH&S concern in the wind at Casey.
  8. It’s about time sports journos added some more realtor lingo to the football landscape. Surely we are in more of a Bay window versus Geelong, who are clearly in a porthole by comparison. As for Gold Coast, that’s not a window that’s an egress - the kind of window you only have in the hope you can escape from it during a home invasion.
  9. I feel like after the first 8 rounds teams went down the opposite wing to Ed more often, and played a more defensive mindset in their positioning around him. I think Hunter is going to make a huge difference to us in this regard. No offence to JJ but Hunter is a much more experienced wingman and can do more damage with the ball in hand. We can now attack and defend down either wing, where I felt Jordon was often too slow and defensive as an outlet. I think Ed will be very happy to have a more well rounded outside player on the opposite wing to him.
  10. I think they are Irish. I believe they’re called Giobhan and Gadraig.* *I feel like in doing this I’ve uncovered the secret to Tolkien’s naming conventions.
  11. I’ve already heard rumours about Pick 13’s mum being a handful.
  12. Oh that’s interesting. Is this a short term incentive?
  13. He’s the best deliverer of the ball inside 50 we have, and he’s almost the only player who looks for a hit up lead and not a bomb. You can’t be complaining about our forward delivery but then getting rid of guys who actually do something different with it. He only needs 4 kicks inside 50 for a game to make a massive difference.
  14. Yeah, it’s weird getting old. I’m 44. I’m currently doing this program with people mostly in their 20’s and it’s really obvious they think I’m not that cool. It’s the first time I’ve really felt judged for my age. The only good part is that when I make jokes about f*#king their mums they look terrified, because it seems plausible.
  15. They specifically asked that no one take photos. Very quiet guys.
  16. Nice list. I’m going to see Billy Bragg in March. Will be fun. I saw Beck at The Forum circa ‘98. Was that when you saw him?
  17. Can we change the thread title to ‘Fare just ok Luke Jackson’?
  18. I directed the show open and package for Vh1’s Hip Hop Honours while I was based in New York. I used to be so cool. I think my coolness left sometime around 2012 (and took most of my hair with it).
  19. Horrible brag time. I once worked on a project with Rakim, Ice T, Ice Cube, Wu Tang, and The Beastie Boys. Beasties were super shy. Ice T was really funny and easy to work with. Rakim was really chill, and Wu Tang was like a family reunion - as it was only 18 months after ODB died. I also worked with Russell Simmons on the same project and to this day he’s the worst human I’ve ever met.
  20. Same! I had tickets to Sigur Ros that night and didn’t go because of the footy. They weren’t cheap either. ‘Staralfur’ in The Life Aquatic is my favourite use of a song in a film.
  21. I don’t want to hijack the metalfest that is this thread, but I feel like I need to point out that The Beatles only appear ‘tepid, middling and uninteresting’ because everything they did has been regurgitated by those with less talent for 60 years. In the context of what popular music was when they started as a band, and what they helped turn it into, I think it’s hard to fathom their creative growth. Also Paul Weller is a boss. Moving from The Jam to The Style Council was amazingly brave at the time. He’s a pure artist.
  22. There’s a really good song exploder episode on Netflix where Reznor talks about writing the song and all it represents.
  23. I’m lost for words. Surely you can’t deny how important they are?
  24. I mean, dare I say it, but… is Goodwin basic?
